Schnauzer Lane XMAS

The Tail of St. Nick and Rudolph
(as told by the schnauzers)

Once upon a time there was a blacked nosed schnauzer named Rudolph. This Rudolph had a real identify crisis. He lived in a neighborhood where there were no schnauzer pups but there was a herd of reindeer that lived in a nearby meadow. Everyday he'd go play with the reindeer fawns. He so loved the reindeer games. Rudolph grew up believing he was a reindeer, his mom made him a crazy looking hat with antlers so he would better blend with the reindeer. Most of his hoofed friends had come to accepted him as one of their own and he was very happy.

One summer day a new reindeer on the block who was a bit of a bully bursted Rudolph's bubble when he shouted at him... "Hey little fellow look you have no hoofs and that's a pretty goofy looking hat you're wearing, why you're no reindeer at all... HA HA HA". Rudolph was crushed and to make matters worse all his reindeer friends quit playing with him saying "We don't want to play any more reindeer games with you... you're no reindeer, your legs are too short and what's that beard thing you got going on there?" Poor Rudolph he felt so alone that he wandered into the woods to seek seclusion from the shame of it all :o(

St. Nick finds Rudolph in a depressed state of mind

Summer turned into fall and Rudolph had pretty much became a hermit. Then one day though a rather spunky schnauz dressed like Santa Claus wandered into Rudolph's hide away. Rudolph looked at him and thought "What's heck is up with this guy?" When the little guy proudly proclaimed "Hi, I'm St. Nick, you know the great Claus, you look pretty depressed wanna stick of gum to cheer you up?". Rudolph glanced up with a puzzled look. St. Nick went on to say "What's the matter... don't believe me, try giving my beard a tug you'll see its the real thing! You won't find me in any Macy Department stores but every Christmas Eve, I work on sniffing out all the good little children, well I've got get back to work now there lots of toys that I need to make". And so St. Nick strolled off and Rudolph did not see St. Nick for quite sometime.

Fall eventually turned into winter. Then on Christmas Eve St. Nick came by again and pleaded "Rudolph, I have a very very bad cold and and cannot sniff out the good children. I thought well maybe with your nose so right won't you guide my sleigh tonight?" Rudolph nodded affirmative. "Well then come on let's go its almost Christmas and there are children waiting!" said St. Nick. Off they went into the sky flying over the all the land to sniff out the good little children. Rudolph was so thrilled, he had achieved only what the reindeer dreamed about, he would help St. Nick sniff out all the good children, what an honor. Rudolph went on to help St. Nick year after year and they became an inseparable team.

Well... as everyone knows Rudolph's story did go down in history and the story is passed down from schnauzery generation to generation. A song was even written... "Rudolph the black nosed schnauzer had a very tuned in nose. And if you ever saw it you would say it even shows... ". You've even probably heard it (ok maybe the lyrics you've heard are little different, those reindeer where quite influential and have a jealous nature). But one important lesson for all the children out there if you haven't very been good, see if you can get your parents to get you a little lady schnauz, Rudolph never passes up a home with a pretty little bearded lady in it!

Merry Christmas Everyone!!
