My name is Linda Paxton and I am researching the Schneckenberger’s that lived  and still live in Omaha, Nebraska. My ancestors have been in this area a long time. Karl Magnus Schneckenburger was born January 28, 1841 at Deilingen, Schwartzwaldkreis Wuerttemberg  Germany. The son of Joseph Schneckenburger and Theresia Weiss.  His wife Eleanora Reide was born at Ratshausen, Germany June 14, 1849 to Mathias Reide and Anna Reide.  Mathias and Anna were cousins.  After the birth of several children they moved to Stuttgart where Eleanora graduated from Stuttgart College in 1875. In the fall of 1881 they came to America with their ten children on the Ship Rotterdam out of Amsterdam Harbor. They entered this Country at Castle’s Garden at New York City.
They were at the beginnings of the Omaha World Herald and the Union Pacific Railroad. They were  Midwives, Printers, Brick Masons, Manufacturers, Soldiers and Businessmen. I have spent many years exploring what my relatives have done. Hopefully with the help of everyone interested, we can find out many more interesting things about these early settlers. Their lives, through toil and hardships, have given us the comfortable lives that we enjoy today.
