Advantages of Thermasteel wall panels:
Locally manufactured by Wardco LLC,
Thermasteel panels offer obvious advantages over stick-frame
construction. Essentially they are steel studs at 1'4" O.C. on
either side of a layer of expanded polystyrene, with steel studs along
the top and bottom. The Thermasteel
web page has more specific information. As the studs are
staggered on either side of the expanded polystyrene, the wall panels
virtually eliminate thermal conduction along framing members. The
expanded polystyrene is solid within the wall panel, giving it an
R-value that far surpasses that of batts insulation. That means
saving fuel, saving energy, and saving money. Thermasteel panels
are Energy Star compliant. It also means that more wall area can
be opened up to be used as window space.
Construction using wall panels is much faster than stick framing.
As panels are measured and cut during manufacture, when they get to the
job site they are simply raised and secured together with tack
screws. Much less work is required to erect a structure using
wall panels than stick framing, saving a builder time and most
importantly, big money.
Existing construction documents can be modified to use Wardco wall
panels, floor panels, and even roof panels. The Thermasteel
system saves trees, energy, construction labor, and above all, money.
