Important Information about the Ads
Unfortunately, with free webspace, advertisements are a neccesary evil. Yahoo and Geocities use automated software to "read" the webpage to determine the content and decide which ads to place. I have worked tirelessly to make sure that this page is family friendly, but since I have zero control over the ads placed on the site, there may come a time when an advertisement is for a product or service which is "less than child friendly". Also, some of the sponsors may be unscrupulous con artists who are on the edge of legality. Ads asking if you want to "Name a star after a loved one" or "buy land on the moon" are usually pure hokum, targeting people with good intentions, but little knowledge. Fortunately, there IS a very good resource for sorting out the bad from the good. This is the Bad Astronomy website, run by Dr. Philip Plait. He uses his website (and seperately available book) to help educate the public about myths, misconceptions and even scams relating to astronomy. There is also a link below to a story from WIRED magazine about one such scam. Be sure to read up. There are some unsavory 'businessmen' out there. Buy a Star...But its not yours (WIRED magazine) |

How to disable ads on a page
Mozilla Users: Luckily, there IS a way to disable the ads if you are using the Mozilla browser. Right click on the "main frame" (not the ad). Under the side menu labelled "this frame", click on "Show only this frame". This will allow you to close the advertisement. Internet explorer does not currently have this option. |
