The old "Weather Permitting" clause
And why we have to use it
Unfortunately, astronomy is a profession and hobby that relies on the weather being merciful to our persuits. Obviously, if there is clouds and/or rain, you can't see anything in the sky of any intrest. Likewise, other weather conditions including haze, pollution, smoke, wind and humidity can be equally disasterous to a night of viewing. As such, an event can be called off at ANY TIME due to inclement weather. Often, there may be little advance warning before a cancelled event. If impenitrable clouds roll in 20 minutes before the start of an event, we may have to cancel right before the scheduled start time. If this happens, we will do our best to schedule a new event soon.

If such an event occurs, we hope you will be understanding. After all, we don't have any control over the weather.

Also, it is a good idea to check the weather forecast before attending. The bottom of this page has a Yahoo/Weather channel status bar listing the weather conditions for Mesa Arizona.
