Plant Nutrition
Lesson 6
In this lesson we are going to learn how plants grow and what nutrients are
required for a healthy plant.
Plants use some of the glucose that they produce to produce energy for
themselves to grow. This energy is used to force nutrients and minerals into the
plant. The plant does not need to use energy to get water up into its leaves, a
process called osmosis does this naturally. Fertilisers such as manure are
natural sources of minerals. Artificial fertilisers are made on an industrial
scale and are spread over fields to increase plant growth.
