A Do It Yourself Foot Controller for Line6 POD

N.B. POD and FloorBoard are Trademark of Line6

The POD of Line6 is a very good guitar amplifier emulator. It has many features that can be controlled by switches on the front panel.

There is, also, a foot controller that Line6 call FloorBoard. It is extremely useful but also expensive. It use a dedicated cable and, i suppose, signal protocol to connect to the POD.

A different way to control the parameters and effects of the POD is via MIDI messages, but in this case we need a MIDI controller.

It is possible to emulate the behaviour of the FloorBoard or else control different parameters of the POD by mean of a dedicate MIDI controller.

I built my own controller that i called myFloorBoard: in the following pages I will show You how to build a MIDI controller to be used with the POD instead of the FloorBoard.

The following is a (not so good) picture of my controller (sorry for the low quality image).

Before start let me apologize for my english...I'm italian.

To build myFloorBoard You need to be able to:

  1. Build and test an electronic circuit;
  2. Find or buy two pedals with a potentiometer;
    (
    PROEL makes one as an example)
  3. Find or buy 5 temporary switch;
  4. Transfer a program to a microcontroller
    (we will use a ST6220 of
    ST microelectronics).
  5. ... enjoy of building :-)

Let's start with the Electronics.
