Elephants are marvelous creatures. It saddened me when I learned that some elephants were being killed solely because of the ivory in their trunks. I think that is wrong and it is selfish of humans to treat other animals that way.

I collect elephant figures as my shrine to them. Most of the figures I have are ceramic. I am only interested in ones that have tusks, since that is why they are being slaughtered.

I also oppose the use of elephants in circuses.

Most are treated very poorly and their training is brutal. Many have been stolen from their families as babies and are chained up between performances, not to mention the pokes and prods and downright abuses from trainers with hooked canes. No one deserves to be treated so horribly.
