YES FERRETS!!
YOU ARE PROBABLY THINKING WHAT HAVE  FERRETS GOT TO DO WITH HAWKING, WELL BELIEVE IT OR NOT THEY CAN WORK VERY WELL WITH HAWKS AND DO SO IN ALOT OF PLACES.
GET THE HAWK USED TO SEEING THE FERRETS  THEN WHEN YOU TAKE THEM OUT TOGETHER THE HAWK WILL WATCH IT GO DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE,  WHEN THE RABBIT BOLTS THE  HAWK WILL GET THE IDEA AND START TO WORK IN PARTNERSHIP. BUT WATCH AT THE START AS A HAWK LET GO TO SOON WHEN FIRST BEGINNING MAY WHACK THE THE FERRET IF IT COMES OUT THE HOLE FIRST.
EVENTUALLY THE HAWK WILL PROBABLY SIT UP A TREE ETC AND WATCH WITH ANTICIPATION LOOKING FOR THE RABBIT.
YOU MAY EXPECT TO LOSE AN ODD ONE NOW AND AGAIN SO GETTING TOO  ATTACHED TO THEM  MIGHT NOT BE A GOOD IDEA.
A DIFFERENT COLOUR OF FERRET CAN CAUSE PROBLEMS, IF THE HAWK IS USED TO A POLECAT STICK TO THAT OR ALBINO, IF YOU WANT BOTH THE HAWK MUST BE USED TO BOTH.
BRIAN GETS A LITTLE NIBBLE FROM FRED WHEN OUT HUNTING. I THINK FRED HAS TOOK A DISLIKE TO HIM OR HE JUST TASTES GOOD. BRIAN SAYS HE ISN'T GOING NEAR HIM ANYMORE BECAUSE THATS THE SECOND TIME HE GOT HIM.
FRED DOES GET A LITTLE EXCITABLE WHEN OUT HUNTING.
LUCKY I CARRY A FIRST AID KIT.
YOU WILL PROBABLY BE THINKING FERRETS THEIR VICIOUS AND SMELLY BUT I CAN HONESTLY SAY ONLY IF NOT TRAINED OR CLEANED OUT. I CLEAN MY HUTCH OUT EVERY MORNING AND HANDLE THEM BOTH. FRED THE ALBINO DID BITE AT THE START BUT WHAT YOU DO IS A SMALL KNOCK,WHACK, PING OR FLICK ON THE NOSE AS HE TRYS TO BITE. THEY SOON RELISE THAT BITING YOU HURTS A LITTLE SO THEY STOP , AFTER THAT NO PROBS. BARNEY THE POLECAT WAS A BIT DIFFERENT AS GOT HIM FROM A BREEDER AND SHE HANDLED ALL THE YOUNG AS THEY ARE GROWING UP SO ALL YOU DO IS GET THEM USED TO YOUR SMELL.
FRED DREW BLOOD ONCE WHEN I FIRST GOT HIM BUT HES GREAT NOW AND I TAKE HIM OUT WITH THE NETS SOMETIMES AND HE LOVES IT ,SHOOTING DOWN THE RABBIT HOLES LIKE HE HAS DONE IT FOR YEARS AND HE'S ONLY ABOUT 6 MONTHS OLD.
