EQS Championship Results Posted

For full results from the meet please go to www.mountsnow.org.

The top EQS mogul competitors -  67 men and 28 women - waited restlessly at the start of the course.  Mother Nature was not cooperating. The fog was unusually thick at Mount Snow's well-known bump run - Beartrap.  The competition had been scheduled to start at 10:00 and by 11:45 the fog was a thick as ever.  There was concern among officials, coaches and competitors that a two run meet might not be possible - if there was to be a competition at all ...

To the Mount Snow Freestyle Parents:

In addition to all the great feedback about the Mount Snow EQS Championships, we want to thank the parents who worked so hard to plan and execute a fantastic event.  While there were less parents in evidence, we want to single out the entire Decker family, the Logans and the Scheufeles, who really stepped up to the plate, whether their kids were competing or not.  We are looking forward to another great year of fun and success for the entire Mount Snow Freestyle Team.  And of course, our thanks to the Aprils for their continuing support and help.

Upcoming Competitions

A's and B's

Killington Spring Klassic April 12th and 13th.  This event is for both A and B skiers and the results will count towards the 2004 competition season.  You can register at http://www.eastfree.org/schedule.htm and you Do Not even need a special password to do so!

Judges and TD Clinic

Judges and TD's Needed

The Eastern Division is short on judges.  If anyone wants to learn about judging or become a judge there will be a clinic at Killington on April 12th and 13th.  You don't have to commit to anything for next season.  It would be nice to have a few parent judges on the Mount Snow Team and possibly to assist in judging local events such as the Stratton, Bromley, Okemo or even the Mount Snow Competition.  Also in the same weekend there will be a TD (Technical Delegate) clinic. The Eastern Division is in need of TD's too.  This is a great way to learn about the technical aspects of our competition courses, the safety requirements and how to run a meet.

 Summer Camps

A Mount Snow Summer Camp Idea!

The coaches were thinking of putting together a team weekend trip to Lake Placid to jump at the US Olympic Training Center sometime this summer.   It would be a great opportunity for athletes to learn new  aerial maneuvers on trampolines as well as off the water ramps.  More information will follow this is just an idea now.

Summer camps On-Snow

After speaking with Evan Dybvig I would highly recommend his camp at Mount Hood, CA, Camp

Revolution.  Like myself Evan believes that to progress in Moguls and Big Air you need to have a solid foundation of technique.   For additional information on Camp Revolution go to www.camprevolution.com. contact information for Camp Revolution is

or email:info@camprevolution.com

There are other great camps to attend also at Mount Hood and Whistler, BC.

Another Great Camp

Freestyle America run by Nick and Suzi Preston from Waterville Valley run two camps for freestyle competitors.  One is a Trampoline Camp held at their Mountain Fare Inn where athletes learn basic tumbling skills, inverted aerial maneuvers and off axis aerial maneuvers on trampolines.  They also run week long camps at the US Olympic Training Center Where athletes learn inverted and off axis aerial maneuvers jumping into a pool.  for more info see www.freestyleamerica.com or call Nick and Suzi Preston at (603) 726-8088.

Banquet Time

The end of the season banquet is on Saturday, April 5th at the Grand Summit Hotel.  More information will follow.

Are there any more pictures out there?

Our collection of photos is growing!  Did anyone take any shots during the EQS Banquet or during awards?  Those would be great to get.

There Are Still Some Uniforms From Last Year Left

If anyone is interested in last year's Apogee Team Uniforms contact Steve Yourman at 888-299-5707.  What is left is a large and a medium shell, medium jacket, and an xx-small pant.
