On Father’s Day, 2003, Matt Klainer dipped the rear wheel of his bicycle in the Pacific Ocean to start a 4,200-mile fundraising ride across the United States of America in honor and in memory of his father, Jeremy A. Klainer.

Matt’s father passed away suddenly on April 17th 2002, just two months before he was to set off toward his goal of crossing America by bicycle.  His dream remains unfinished – a dream Matt plans to complete.  In addition to paying tribute to his father, this journey will also serve as a way to raise money for the entrepreneurial scholarship the Klainer family has set up in honor of the late Mr. Klainer at the University of Rochester Graduate School of Nursing.

Public Relations Program consists of:

  • Organizing a full program of communications for Matt Klainer’s Coast-to-Coast bicycle journey to raise awareness of the Dr. Jeremy A. Klainer Entrepreneur Scholarship.

  • Arranged all Media Relations tools for Ride Across America.

    • Designed the Press Kit,  developed the Press List, and wrote all Press Letters.

  • Wrote, edited, and distributed all Press Releases via postal mail and e-mail distribution list from press list.

  • Handled all Media Relations and acted as the contact person for media inquires throughout the program.

  • Successfully placed news features in 50% of targeted news outlets.

    • Placement in the Democrat and Chronicle (Rochester, ), the Boston Herald, Boston Metro, and WBZ News Radio 1030.
