Coast-to-Coast Trek
in Gloucester
on August 16
Boston,
MA, August 13, 2003
–
After nine weeks and 4,200 miles of bicycling, Boston
resident Matt Klainer will dip the front wheel of his bicycle in the Atlantic Ocean
this Saturday, in Gloucester,
MA
to complete the emotional journey of crossing the U.S.by
bike. The ocean touching
ceremony is schedule for around
1:30 PM
on Hough Avenue in Gloucester,
MA on Saturday, August 16, 2003.
On
Father’s Day, Klainer touched the rear wheel of his bicycle with the
Pacific Ocean
to start the 4,200-mile fundraising ride across the United States of America
in honor and in memory of his father, Jeremy A. Klainer.
Matt’s
father passed away suddenly on
April 17, 2002, just two months before he was to set off toward his goal of crossing America
by bicycle. His dream remains
unfinished – a dream Matt will complete.
In
addition to paying tribute to his father, this journey will also serve as
a way to raise money for the entrepreneurial scholarship the Klainer
family has set up in honor of the late Mr. Klainer at the University of
Rochester Graduate School of Nursing.
In
order to continue Mr. Klainer’s recent work, the family established the Dr.
Jeremy A. Klainer Entrepreneurial Scholarship Fund at the University
of Rochester Graduate School of Nursing. The mission of Scholarship Fund
is to provide funds for healthcare professionals to learn the skills of
entrepreneurship, thereby empowering themselves to seek out new and better
ways to provide healthcare in America.
