Experiences

The Vaults, Edinburgh

Bryoney of Cambridgeshire experienced a feeling of someone tapping on her head and stroking her hair, she didn't feel threatened though and at the end of the tour she mentioned this to the guide and they told her it was a ghost of a mischievous little boy called Jack, who is said to be a friendly and playful ghost, various other noises and bangs were heard throughout the tour.

Rich reports strong smell of a mixture of leather and alcohol as soon as we enter the start of the tour, which continued throughout the rest of the tour. Kirstie who is also there cannot smell it.
On another tour he experienced a lot more than the smell of alcohol,  he felt strange feelings in his foot in the cobbler's room, the following room he felt a funny feeling in his hair, almost like it was being played with, this was also the same room that Jack was said to stay.

Various strange sounds were heard throughout the tour by everyone, anything from dull 'boomy' thuds to doors slamming shut [ there's no doors in the vaults ] and also the sound of people laughing, shouting and enjoying themselves was heard by the party, almost like an old tavern with a warm and friendly atmosphere a few rooms away, it is also a known fact that it is usually deadly silent down in the vaults because it is so deep underground.

Kirstie walks into what was once the caretaker's office and have an extremely warm and welcoming feel come over me. Once in the room, we are informed that many people experience heat from the 'blazing fire that the caretaker always kept'.
A young girl had an experience in the same room, stood infront of the old fireplace, and started to rub the back of her legs. When the tour guide asked if she was okay, she said that 'the fire was hot on her legs'. When she turned to see that there was no fire burning, she was a little distressed.

The vault next to the caretaker's office is reported to be haunted by a rather angry drunk man. Whilst in this vault, I had a slightly uncomforting sense that someone was standing very close to me (about an inch from my face), possibly as if they were breathing on me. There was also a faint smell of alcohol.

One of the larger vaults, which contains a large lintel with masonic symbols carved in stone, it has a sense of extreme sadness and we both had an almost unwelcome feeling while in the room.
At the end of the tour, Kirstie gets a strong scent of cheese which Rich cannot smell.

On a tours open day, Valerie of Peterborough felt cold spots in the room with the masonic symbol, on another tour she also felt absolutely freezing in the room that Jack is said to stay.

The Burrell Collection, Glasgow

We visited the museum with no intention of experiencing the supernatural, but whilst entering the first of The Hutton Rooms (Banqueting Room), Kirstie and a female friend experienced an overpowering musty smoked wood scent, which the three males in the party did not experience. This is supposedly a common experience within this room.

Valleyfield, Penicuik

Whilst walking across the area one day, I experienced strange noises such as banging and clanking metal. One of the noises was almost like someone continually running a metal bar up and down iron railings, another was similar to the sound a telegraph pole would make in strong winds. I did not think anything of this until speaking to someone who had experiences something similar, and had discovered the site was haunted by similar occurences.

Culloden Moor, Inverness

This is the site of one of the most famous battles between the Jacobite's (Bonnie Prince Charlie's men) and the Redcoats (English & Border Clans) whilst we were on the moor one wet and breezy day, Rich (who is English) felt a sudden unwelcomed push which felt similar to a very powerful gust of wind which forced him foward about two feet in distance and down to the ground, when he tried to get up the force pushed him back down again
