This is Alan Scott, the original Green Lantern from the Golden Age of comics. He is built using Fat Sal's recipe. First I took a Batman figure and boiled and popped his head off. I replaced his head with a Green Lantern head. I then gently pried apart Batman's torso with a knife. I removed his arm assembly and replaced them with Firestorm's arm assembly. I did this because Firestorm has baggy sleeves like Alan Scott wears. I then super glued the torso back together. Next, I ground off the cartridges on Batman's utility belt using my Dremel. Using Sculpey, I extended the mid-arm sleeves on the Firestorm arms down to the wrist area. Next I made Alan Scott's collar and ring from Sculpey. After priming, I drew on the boot lacing with a pencil as a guide for my painting. I then painted the figure. For the chest symbol, I found a graphic of Alan Scott's chest symbol on the internet. I then printed it off onto paper and cut it out. Using glue diluted with water, I pasted the symbol on his chest and sealed it with a spray on sealant. My wife made the cape, taking two pieces of cloth cut into the shape of the cape, one green and one purple, and gluing them together with fabric glue. |
