Dr. Mid-Nite is built on a Flash base. This figure is actually my second attempt at customizing this character. My first try was built on a Captain America Secret Wars figure. I wasn't happy with the results, so I tried again. The first step I took was to lock Flash's legs in place by supergluing the hip joints. This was necessary in order to construct the bottom of Mid-Nite's vest. If the joints weren't locked, then the sculpey vest would break the first time someone tried to articulate the legs. Next, I sculpted the boots and gloves from Sculpey. I then sculpted Mid-Nite's goggles, vest, and belt from Sculpey. I then primed, painted and sealed the figure. Finally, I added the caped made by my lovely and talented wife. This custom was much more difficult than I first envisioned it, but I am happy with the results. |
