Guy Gardner
I couldn't be any prouder of how this custom turned out.  It took literally months of works to complete this figure.  It is built entirely of a Lex Luthor base, with the exception of the hands, which came from a Mr. Freeze figure.  The first step I took was to Dremel off all of the surface detail on the Lex figure.   This includes all the ridges on his armor, decorations, etc.  This took me forever.  It takes tons of work to remove all that detail and still retain the figure's musculature.  Once I finished this step, I carefully sanded the figure smooth with fine grit sandpaper.  Next, I cut off Lex's hands with my X-acto knife.  I did this because the detail on them was hard to remove, and they didn't have the pose I wanted.  I took a Toy Biz Mr. Freeze and cut his hands off.  I then attached the hands to the Lex figure.  I did this by heating a paper clip and then pushing it into the plastic arms.  I then cut off the clip with wire cutters, leaving about a centemeter's worth of metal sticking out of the arms.  I then heated the exposed metal and pushed the hands onto the metal.  Using the metal as a structural support is vastly superior to just Crazy Gluing on the hands, I have found.  Next, I sculpted on Guy's jacket, belt, hair and ring.  I also augmented the top of his boots.  Finally, I primed and painted the figure, and sealed it with spray on sealant.  The Lex base was perfect for this custom.  Lex's face has a sneer which is perfect for Guy's personality.  Lex's boots match the big clunky ones Guy wore.  Lex even has a turtle neck sweater like Guy's.  The only draw back is the hard work it takes to remove all the detail from the figure.  It was well worth the effort, though!
