Johnny Quick, of the Crime Syndicate, is built on a Flash base with a Lex Luthor head. I started by boiling and popping Lex's head onto Flash's body. Next, I used my dremel to grind off Flash's lightning bolt belt and the wings off his boots. Using Sculpey, I built Johnny's gloves and helmet. To make the lightning bolts sticking out of his head, I used wire to reinforce them. First, I cut a small length of wire. Next, I heated the wire over flame until red-hot. I then pushed the hot wire into the sides of the head. The wire will melt the plastic and the wire will be stuck securely into the head. Next, I bent the wire to the desired shape, and covered it with Sculpey. I also used a bit of Sculpey to augment Lex's chin. It gave the face a little more distinctive look. After priming the figure, I sketched on the lightning bolt pattern onto Johnny's chest and back with a pencil. Finally, I painted the figure with acrylic paint and sealed it with a spray-on sealer. |
