Hawkwoman was a very labor intensive custom. I probably wouldn't have made her, but my wife saw this character on the Justice League cartoon and convinced me that she would make a cool custom. Starting with a Wonder Woman base, I cut off the top of her hair with an X-acto knife. Then, I ground off WW's chest symbol braclets and the ridge at the top of her boots with my dremel. I drilled two small holes in her back with my drill. I then removed the wings from a Hawkman figure. Boiling him to soften him up, I then split open Hawkman's torso, and removed the little stubs that his wing attaches to. Using my dremel, I then ground off the end of the stub that was in Hawkman's chest cavity, so that the stubs would fit through the holes I drilled into Wonder Woman. Using my sculpey, I sculpted Hawkwoman's headpiece, belt and shirt. I then painted and sealed the figure. Last, I inserted the wings into the holes I had drilled and secured them with super glue. |
