Sandyland Modified Class Rules 2004

 

  1. Driver must be 18 years or older.  Drivers 13 to 18 years of age must have written consent from parent for the season.
  2. Consumption of alcoholic beverages will be grounds for disqualification.
  3. Foul or abusive language will be grounds for disqualification.
  4. Driver must be firmly seated at all times, in a normal position, no bouncing, and must have at least one hand on the steering wheel, except when operating brakes on hand models.
  5. Tractors must be operated safely at all times.  Speed is not to exceed 6 M.P.H. off the track.

Tractor Eligibility

  1. Tractor must be 1060 model or older.  Any tractor in question must have serial number in the proper place and casting stamp that can be easily read.  Tractor can have heads, manifolds and power blocks manufactured for retail sale prior to 1960 with the exceptions of exhaust headers and weight brackets.  Proof of manufacture for retail sale of at least 100 parts prior to 1960 is the responsibility of the contestant using the heads, manifold or power block.  Tractors cannot have blowers or turbo chargers on their engines unless factory equipped.  Tractors must be naturally aspirated.
  2. Agriculture tractors only, must be of two wheel drive, no industrial or construction tractors.
  3. All fans must be shielded.
  4. Modified or factory air cleaners will be allowed.  If factory air cleaner is not used, a modified air cleaner must be used and may be positioned anywhere on the tractor and be of any type.
  5. Factory governors must remain as standard equipment.  Governors will maintain no more than 20% (twenty) over stock high idle according to the Nebraska test book. The RPM’s will be set according to the year model not the engine being used in the tractor. No allowance or rev limiters.
  6. Tractors may pull in any gear.  The speed limit is 6 mph and it will be checked by the electronic device.  If horn sounds past the 50ft. mark it will result in disqualification.  There will be no shifting after driver begins pulling, except for T.A.’s.
  7. Fixed drawbar with rigid clevis or fixed pulling eye to 20” or lower at pulling point.  If using twisted clevis, the highest point of pull measured and the skid chain must hang free.  There will be a minimum of 18” from center of wheel axle to pulling point.
  8. The only fuels that can be used are gasoline, gasohol, diesel, and L.P. gas.  No alcohol or nitrous oxide fuels allowed.
  9. A maximum tire size of 18.4X38 and any rim width will be allowed in all weight classes.  The firestone tire chart will be used as a comparison for tire sizing.  Radial tires are allowed, no duals, any cut allowed on tires.  No steel wheels allowed.
  10. Tractor weight classes will be as follows: 3100, 3350, 3600, 3750, 4100, 4600, 5100, 5600, 6100, 6600, 7100, 7600, 8100, 8600, 9100, and 9600.  Tractor weights may be protested.  Overweighed tractors will be disqualified.  With scales present, driver must weigh before each pull.
  11. Two wheelie bars must be used.  Bars must be a minimum of 20” apart from center to center, 32” behind center of rear axle, have a 4” skid pad, and be a maximum of 10” off the ground.
  12. A breakaway switch or proven kill system is mandatory.
  13. Stock tractors will be allowed to pull in a modified weight class if they are equipped with wheelie bars.  Stock tractors do not require a kill switch.
  14. All tractors may pull one time in any or up to three classes by adding hang-on weights.  Weight brackets and weights must be safely secured to the tractor, and must not extend more than 11 feet from the center of the rear axle to the furtherest point forward, nor shall rear weights hang rearward beyond the rear tire, Unless passed by the tech committee before the pull begins.
  15. The president shall have complete authority in running each pull.  He can stop the pull or any part of the pull due to weather or any other reason.  It will be resumed by his authority and in the manner he desires.  If the president is not present, he shall designate an officer or board member to assume authority.
  16. Tractors must stop immediately upon the red flag signal from the judge or be disqualified, if the track judge stops the puller for any reason, the puller takes the distance where he was stopped, except within 50’ of the starting line.  If he stops within the 50’ marker the he is entitled to a restart.
  17. No one is allowed on the track, except for the puller and the officials.  No one rides on the moveable weight box.
  18. Any tractor may be protested at any time, by any contestant in that class, to a tech judge or member of the board.  All protests after this period will be null.  A protest judge or judges shall be selected for each pull.  Tech committee for a class shall be a paid member of the corporation.  All judges’ decisions are final.
  19. A tech committee has been appointed and will inspect tractors randomly to determine if they meet the safety standards and rules outlined.  The committees’ word will be final.
  20. SAFETY IS OUR MAIN CONSERN. Do not hotrod, please watch out for children, help with the pull when you can, and have fun doing what we all enjoy getting together to do. PULLING!!!

Sandyland Stock Class Rules 2004

 

This division is designed to promote antique tractor pulling, creating a competitive atmosphere for beginning pullers, show tractors and competitive stock tractors.  The purpose of this division is to bring enjoyment to the purest form of pulling, stock pulling.

 

Modified rules apply except for the following:

 

1.     The tech committee will act as track judges for all stock classes.

2.     Weight classes and tire sizes are as follows:

3500—12.4x38       6000                      8500—18.4x38

4500—13.6x38       6500—16.9x34       9500—18.4x38

5000                      7000 

              5500—14.9x38       7500—16.9x38

     Tire sizes represent the largest square inch footprint on the field and road chart.  Other sizes with equal to or smaller footprint area           will be allowed.

3.     A maximum drawbar height of 18 inches is allowed. A pulling ring or twisted clevis of 3 inches or larger is required.  Pulling hitches must be made of material deemed safe by the tech committee or the tractor will not be allowed to hook.  Hook must hang free.

4.     Wheelie bars are optional on stock tractors.

5.     No cut tires.

6.     Fuel is restricted to gasoline, gasohol, diesel, propane, and kerosene.

7.     Engines must be of stock appearance.

8.     Only factory equipped flatheads allowed.  Shaved heads and blocks allowed on gas type engines only.

9.     Factory intake manifold, carburetor, and air cleaner must be in stock position and operational.  Straight exhaust is allowed only after stock exhaust manifold.

10. No blowers or turbos except for factory equipped.

11. Dual fuel not allowed.

12. Track speed limit for stock tractors is 3 M.P.H.

13.  RPMS’s may be no more than 10% over stock high idle RPMS’s according to Nebraska Test Book.


 

Sandyland Open Class Rules 2004

 

1.     Drivers Must be 14 years of age or older.  Those under 18 years of age must have written parental permission.

2.     Drivers must stay in the seat of the tractor at all times.  Hands must be on the steering wheel, hand brakes, hand clutch, or throttle at all times during the pull.

3.     Any tractor or puller found to be unsafe or illegal may be disqualified of barred from hooking.  No alcoholic beverages allowed.

4.     Any part falling off of the tractor after being hooked and until the tractor is unhooked will be grounds for disqualification.

5.     Wheelie bars and kill switches are required.  Wheelie bars must meet specifications outlined in the modified rules.

6.     Drawbars must not exceed 20” in height or less than 18” from center of axle to hooking point.

7.     Weights must not extend rearward beyond rear tires and cannot be more than 11’ from the center of the rear axle to the furthest point forward.

8.     No steel wheels. Two wheel drive only, no duals, radials allowed.  Any cut allowed on tires.

9.     Tire size: Maximum of 18.4x38 with any rim width.

10. Tractors must be naturally aspirated. No turbos or blowers unless factory equipped.

11. Tractors manufactured to use diesel fuel cannot be converted to use gas or L.P. fuels.

12. Engine qualifications and rpm requirements are the same as modified rule requirements.

13. Any gear, any speed, and shifting of T.A.’s allowed.

14. All rules will be interpreted by the tech committee.  Any unforeseen problems or oversights will be ruled on by the tech committee with their rulings being final.

15. RPMS’s may be no more than 30% over stock high idle according to Nebraska Test Book.


 

Sandyland V-8 Antique Class Rules 2004

Age of Driver: 18 years or older

Tractor Age:   1963 and older, No home made Tractors.

Fuel:                Gasoline fuel only. NO ALCOHOL OR NITROUS OXIDE.

Body and Frame:

1.     Stock rear end and tin work, must have a tractor appearing front end.  You can make your own frame.  If you make yout own frame it must have a stock length wheel base and a stock front pedestal if using tricycle front end.  Tractors must have a wide front end, the tires must be it the pullers line of sight from seat.  The wide front must be at least 36” wide from center of tread to center of tread on front tires.

2.     Total length of tractor: Maximum length is 11 feet from the center of the rear axle to the furthest point forward, including weights.

3.     Drawbar: 18” from center of axle, maximum 20: high.

4.     Engine, Manifold, Carburetor, and Ignition:

          Engine must be 410 cubic inches or smaller, of automotive type and design.  Must be a small block, no big blocks.  Must be a cast iron block, cast iron heads, and maximum eight cylinders.  Two valve, one spark plug per cylinder.       Camshaft in block.  Up to one four barrel naturally aspirated carburetor, stock, out of the box 750 CFM maximum with factory number.  No flowed carburetors, no fuel injection, no throttle based        injection.  Headers or open exhaust are allowed> Headers must exit in an upward direction.

5.     Factory style distributor only, MSD box allowed.  Electric or manual fuel pumps only.  Rocker arms allowed. Aluminum intake allowed. No diesels allowed.

6.     Engines to be governed by a rev limiter of a 6AL MSD MANDATORY.  6000 RPM limit, Rpm chip to be supplied by puller.  If you are caught cheating on RPM, you will be banned from hooking for three events.

 

Safety

1.     Wheelie bars are required.  It is recommended that the wheelie bars not be attached to the drawbar in any way.  The wheelie bar pads are to be a minimum of 5”x5” , no more than 10 “ above the ground and the front edge of the pad must be behind the rear most part of the tire.  All bars must support the tractor in its heaviest class.  This will be tested by jacking up one pad at a time.  All tractors must have a snap back throttle and a working kill switch.  High back seats only, such as high back garden tractors.  Must have scatter shield, blanket, or drive shaft loops. Must have fenders and engine covers.  Clutches, flywheels, and harmonic balancers must be shrouded.  Blow up proof bell housings may be used.

2.     Drive shafts must have 360 degree loops every 12” of shaft.  U-joints must be completely shielded.  No cables, chains, or PVC pipe as loops.

3.     Tractors must have plastic or electric fans.

4.     Fire extinguishers are mandatory in all classes. Must be in easy reach of the driver.

5.     All tractors must have working brakes.

6.     Speed: may run in any gear and speed.  No shifting is allowed, This includes T.A.’s. No automatic transmissions.

 

          General Safety

1.     All tractors must be inspected by tech committee and be OK’d by the committee before and after each pull.

2.     When being hooked & unhooked driver is required to have hands in air to signify tractor is in neutral.  Also watch starting flagman until given signal.

3.     Two attempts to pass the 75’ mark will be allowed.

4.     If you do not have the required safety features, you WILL NOT be allowed to pull.

5.     Tech committee’s decisions and rulings are final including driver edibility and competency.
