Synopsis:
Mary Fiore, a very good wedding planner in San Francisco, will be made a partner with the company when she completes the wedding for Fran and Steve.  Mary misses the first planning appointment with Fran and Steve when she nearly gets squashed by a dumpster.  She spends a romantic evening with the pediatrician that rescued her.  Mary's father has arranged a marriage for her which she has no wish to carry through, but the gentleman is there.  Her newly rekindled feelings and her job commitments begin to collide.
Review:
The first 40 minutes of the movie starts out very strong, but the movie slows down abruptly when it changes from a busy four star comedy to an average romance.  The comedy reemerges near the end, but the damage is done.  The romance isn't developed enough by the time the drama begins for the audience to be involved in what happens when the drama begins.  A romantic drama with comedy thrown in would have been fine if it were a strong story, but the story is simple and the romance here is only weakly present.  If this movie had stuck with its initial comedic direction, this would easily be a four star film.  The direction is great at the beginning and adequate throughout.  The comedic talent of Jennifer Lopez was a revelation.  All the acting seemed fine and appropriate.  The score was excellent in support of the movie.  The effort was noble and started out strong, but it fell short.erstand, and the humor is universal.
