Bay Appendix Quarter Horse? 1990? Classical Jazz - Jasper to those who know him best - is a sweet guy who, unfortunately, was born with a weak back that has not held up well over the years. It seems as though his back has deteriorated over the past few years, causing the poor guy to become sore and to compensate with the wrong muscles. That, in turn, has caused more strain and pain. So, Jasper went through a few months of intense massage therapy with board member Lee Williams to help him recover from his soreness before we would get on him - we refused to cause him any more pain by riding him while he was sore. Before his increasing soreness (and a bout of Lyme Disease that we treated), Jasper was a young girl's horse, a gentle gelding who helped build her confidence. They showed together, went on trails together, and loved each other. We wanted to see him go to a similar home where he could enjoy a relaxed life, and where his future family would know enough to help him use / build the muscles of his topline under saddle, rather than letting him "hollow out" as he likes to do. Also, SCR stipulated that he cannot be jumped. Jasper found his forever home with a local vet who enjoys riding lower level dressage - just what Jasper needed! We wish the two of them the best of luck together. |
