Sassy Una
Grey Quarter Horse filly
2004

Sassy Una, or Anna as she is known around SCR, is a young Quarter Horse filly.  We are a little unsure of some of her details, because she came to us from an auction, but the paperwork that came with her calls her a sorrel yearling Quarter Horse filly, registered name, Sassy Una.

Anna caught our eye because she was very lethargic, and had a severely distended belly.  We got close enough to run our hands over her, and were shocked to realize that her thick winter coat was hiding the fact that you could easily feel every rib on her body!  We knew we had to take her out of that situation, and purchased her from the auction house that night.

Anna had a sweet personality, and seemed to trust people, despite being neglected in the past.  We had no problems haltering, leading her, or blanketing her.  She knew how to trailer when we got her, but she was nervous of clippers and was not 100% with tying.  We worked with her to stand nicely for clipping, to tie, to stand for having her feet cleaned and to have patience with the farrier.

In our care, Anna grew in leaps and bounds, muscled out very nicely, and was a very quick learner!  We had begun her ground work lessons, desensitizing her to scary things like umbrellas and paper bags, and she excelled at being lunged.

Anna is currently being fostered with her potential forever mom who will continue with her training.  We are crossing our fingers that they work well with each other, and that this will be her forever home.
