    She has shown great maternal instincts and is 
    a very gentle mom. Her name means "white cloud"
    She arrived in 1996 and will remain until 2008.

Hua mei
 

  • Hua mei (f), born August 21, 1999 was the first
    baby panda to be born in the western  hemisphere
    since 1990. Her name means "China-USA"
     

  • She is returning to China this month!

 


Gao-gao
 
  • Gao-gao (pronounced gow-gow), arrived in January 2003.
    He is described as playful and shows great interest 
    in Bai Yun. He is the replacement for Shi-shi who returned 
    to China in January. He will remain until 2008.

  • Tian-Tian (Pronounced tee-YEN tee-YEN), the male, 
    was born on Aug. 27, 1997. 
    His name means more and more. 
    
  • Mei Xiang (Pronounced may-SHONG), the female, was born on July 22, 1998. Her name means beautiful fragrance.
Both were born at the research center in China.

He comes from the Chongquing Zoo in China.
His name means "Happy happy."

 

Ya-ya
 

Ya-ya (pronounced yah yah), the female, is 2.
She comes from the Beijing Zoo in China.
Her name means "Pretty girl."
