The Southland:
Official City of Los Angles Website
My home town is what the movies love to call "The City Of Angels." Some people call it "Laws Angeleeze." I actually grew up in the San Fernando Valley, which is really and truly in the City of Los Angeles.  Some L.A. natives despise the Valley and call it "Hell on Earth."  They're just jealous!  The don't realize that if it weren't for the annexation of the Valley in the 1920's, the City wouldn't have any water!  Besides, all the cool malls are there, as well as orange groves and movies stars....(well, there used to be!)  More, professional Corbis photos of the City of Angeles. pege 1, page 2, page 3.

My Los Angeles-
I was able to finally visit my home again this past summer and took lots of photos.
Here are a few from June 2000 and a few from before....
Click to go here yourself!  Check out the music!  Check out the webcam!
Hmmm..these photos are not coming out as well as I would like!  I need to find a way other than Picture It!
The photo above is the interchange of the San Diego and Century Freeways.  It's a little gray because of the developing, NOT the air!!
Upper left is the front door of
Al's Bar, located in an extremely seedy part of downtown, but is extremely hot!  Under that is a photo of my bald self chatting with the deejay-he is in change of the internet broadcasts.
Upper right is the famed
Angel's Flight, built around 1901.  It was dismantled in 1969, and rebuilt with the original cars in the late 1990's as part of the new Subway system.  It connects a Red Line station to the California Plaza, a business center where "Rising Sun" was filmed.
Unfortunately, in 2001, Al's Bar was closed.  Read about it
here, on the New Times L.A. site.
