Shadows, shadows are the lifesigns of secrets. Secrets which have been

long forgotten. Secrets so unimaginable that the governments of all around the world strive to keep them quiet. Keep them in the shadows.

It was a dark, gloomy and treacherous night. Special Agent Fox Mulder lay in his bed, unaware that he phone had been ringing for the last three minutes on end. The phone suddenly fell off of the table it was on.

That woke Mulder with a startle. He opened his eyes and looked at the clock next to him. It was 0121. Suddenly he heard a thump. Someone was knocking on the door.

Mulder slowly rose and walked up to the door. He looked through the eyehole and saw his partner, Agent Dana Scully standing there. Heopened the door and then he saw the worried look on his partner’s face.

" What’s wrong?" he asked his partner. As he said it Scully noticed a note of anxiety in his voice.

" Mulder, Cancer Man is in hospital, Krychek is believed to be dead and we’ve got a damn weird case!" Scully replied.

Scully handed Mulder a file and he read it. Then his face turned a sickly shade of white, pure and utter white! The file was censored in some places but the amount that he read was enough for him to be shocked. It was about various alien abductions, each of them were similar to his sisters and each of them with young children aged 6-10 years old not to mention that in each case a sibling witnessed what had happened and had the same story to tell as Mulder had.

" Mulder, we need to go further on this case, each of these people had abductions similar to your sister’s." Scully said.

Mulder, alert as ever, ran his fingers through his slick, gelled hair and then ran into his room. A few minutes later he was dressed in his full suit and came out of his room, then he leaped into his living room and picked up his gun.

" Come on, Scully, we better get out o’ here!" Mulder said to his agent.

Then they both ran to Mulder’s black Ferrari and then set off. As soon as Mulder put his foot on the acceleration pedal, the rain started to pour down.

" Where exactly are we going, Scully?" Mulder inquired.

" To see our chain smoking friend, Mulder, we need some answers and that bastard will probably be on the game." Scully replied.

" Bitchin" said Mulder.

When they arrived at the hospital they walked straight into the ward that Cigarette Smoking Man was in. Mulder mounted his gun and put his hand in the pouch, ready to lift and fire if necessary.

Scully saw his quick hand movement and said, " Mulder, you can’t shoot him, even if he tried to kill you twenty times!"

Slowly Mulder pushed open the door and was confronted by the most horrifying creature he had ever seen. It was standing over Cancer Man and looked transfixed into his eyes. It was tall and thin and had long eyes, it looked exactly like the alien that Scully had seen when shewas abducted, or so she described.

Mulder raised the gun and put his finger on the trigger. With one hand holding the gun and the alien in his peripheral vision, he beckoned to Scully to come inside.

Then, as soon as Scully walked in, the alien turned around. And what the two agents saw was more horrific sight than the back ofthe alien.

They saw its face. Then they saw his face.

Cancer Man’s face was absolutely grotesque, it was as if the alien had plunged its long and sharp looking fingers into it and ripped out huge chunks of decaying skin.

Mulder pushed his finger further on the trigger and the bullet came flying out. It hit the alien in the place where its heart was meant to be if it was a human. But the way it was devouring innocent humans wasa source of evil so negative that it was obvious that he had no heart.

" Scully, this thing is for real!" Mulder said.

Scully could tell that for once his partner was actually scared. " No, you don’t say!" Scully said, trying to humor the tense situation.

The alien was looking directly at them but he made no attempt to move until suddenly Mulder took a quick move. As soon as the maverick male agent moved forward, the alien disappeared in a blinding flash ofbright light. It took the body of Cancer Man with it.

" Bitchin," said Mulder. " This is much too weird."

" Mulder, what we have just witnessed is a class X murder and our prime suspect is a galaxy slider!" Scully said.

Mulder and Scully walked out of the room and marched straight out ofthe hospital. Without a word, they both headed to the Ferrari. When they both entered the car and shut the doors with a bang the sky turned white.

" Mulder, it’s only 0415 and already we’ve got a bright sky!" Scully said sarcastically.

" I don’t think that this is a natural occurrence, more like we found

our X file." Mulder said. " And besides, sarcasm is the lowest form of wit!"

" And the highest form of intelligence!"

Scully looked down to turn the radio on and as soon as she turned it on there was static. Then she looked up. Mulder was gone.So was the light.
