Camp #84, Gardendale Alabama
Alabama Division, Sons of Confederate Veterans
August 2006 Edition Patrick Cumbie: Commander
Albert Snow: Adjutant
The Capt. Mortimer Jordan Camp met at the Gardendale Shoney's Restaurant Tuesday July 11th at 7pm. This was the second Tuesday of the month as opposed to the usual first Tuesday because of the federal Holiday.
Because of the change of date, the room for the meeting was in use for another group, so we had to settle for a table on the floor.
The meeting was a casual affair with several of the members along with the Alabama Division Commander Leonard Wilson on hand. No camp buisness was conducted. This is usual for this time of year.
The next meeting of the Capt. Mortimer Jordan Camp will be August 1st, 7pm at the Gardendale Shoney's Restaurant. Everyone is welcome.

The Confederate States Navy had only four small ships with which to contend with naval armada of at least fouteen ships and ironclads of the US Navy. Along with Fort Morgan and Fort Gaines this small force fought the overwhelming strength of the enemy with valor not seen in any previous naval engagement of  the war. The Battle of Mobile Bay was the most important and largest naval engagement in the war and the largest battle in Alabama.
