Dedicated to the Rehabilitation of Sick, Injured and Orphaned Wildlife and to the Conservation of Safe and Natural Habitats.

ABOUT US:

Thank you for your interest in Second Chance Wildlife Sanctuary and your compassion for our wildlife.

Second Chance Wildlife Sanctuary (SCWS) was established to better serve the public and to aid wildlife in distress.  We are licensed by the State of Virginia and are specially trained and qualified to work with sick, injured and orphaned wildlife.  We are all volunteers and our services are free.  Each year, we take in hundreds of birds and mammals in need of care.  It is our goal, whenever possible, to return these wild creatures back to the wild, when they are ready.

Although our services are free, our needs are many.  We welcome donations of the following:

1.   Bird Seed
2.   Cracked Corn
3.   Dog and Cat Food (Canned and Dry)
4.   Rabbit Pellets
5.   Paper Towels
6.   Clean Towels
7.   Clean Cloth Baby Diapers
8.   Clean Flannel Baby Receiving Blankets
9.   Large Bird or Ferret Cages
10.  Pet Carriers

To donate any of the above items, contact us at:

A monetary donation is always appreciated, as so many of those we care for require special diets, medications, and other items that must be special ordered.

MOVING TOWARD THE FUTURE:

It has come to the attention of area rehabilitators that there is a severe shortage of safe habitats for the release of wildlife.  Where there is a field or wooded area today, there will be a subdivision or shopping center tomorrow.  Consequently, roads and highways dot the landscape, endangering our wildlife.  All of this has resulted in food supplies and shelter being seriously compromised for these wild creatures.

In response, SCWS is considering applying for tax exempt status in order to become a non-profit organization.  Our goal will be to purchase a plot of land no less than 500 acres.  This land will be used for releasing wildlife.

A second goal will be to build a two-acre live-in rehabilitation center on the property.  In addition to the center, the facility will include outdoor acclimation and release cages, stable facilities and runs.

Total success and achievement of these goals will depend on you.  Please, help us, help the animals.

We'll keep you up-to-date on our tax status.

Our tax status has not changed, but we have put all donations into a savings account designated for land purchase.
