Pictures From Around Iraq

Below: A Traffic Jam north of Halil on 17 December 2003.  It extended over 7 km (4.5 miles) to the north; we literally drove in the onbound lanes to get around it until we reached this point, the source, at a gas station, where traffic was blocked in both directions.

Above Left: Water Buffaloes, Above Right and Below: Sheep.  Agriculture is still the primary means of support for the Iraqi people.

Left:  This is how the locals handle trash and sanitation.  The picture doesn't show it, but this is in the middle of two villages, Qaryat ash Shahabi and al Karmah, which are only a few hundred meters on either side.
