Interested in meeting your future significant other on a golf course?  Why not?  The golf course is a great place to get to know someone.  You don't have the kinds of distractions such as loud music and smoke-filled rooms.  And you do get to see people at their best...and worst.

Think you've got to be a great golfer to join?  Not So!  Our average (nationwide) handicap is 20.  We have some who occasionally shoot in the 70s, but most of our members shoot in the 80s and 90s.  We also have our fair share of those who haven't broken the century mark yet...so don't let that discourage you from joining, we all had to start somewhere.  The most important factor is that you're committed to the game and are willing to try to improve while having fun doing it.

Any person who's single and over the age of 21 is eligible to join.

To provide opportunities for single people to play in golf outings and tournaments on a regular basis, thereby enjoying new friendships and fellowship. Additionally, to encourage an understanding of golf etiquette and the Rules of Golf as published by the USGA.

The golf course is the greatest place to get to know someone.  Any golfer will admit that both sides of one's personality come out on the golf course.  The idea of single people playing golf together was conceived by Tom Alsop in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1992.  After trying other singles organizations with no luck, Alsop and a friend were out playing golf one day and saw some women on the golf course.  Alsop told his friend "we ought to start a singles club of our own for people who play golf."  From that point, the Charlotte Singles Golf Association was formed.  Six people came to the first meeting and the club now enjoys a membership of over 200 single people who play golf regularly.  Alsop has since formed the American Singles Golf Association to build chapters throughout the United States.  A chapter has been formed here in San Diego and invites all singles, ages 21 or over to join.

Monthly chapter meetings are conducted the second Wednesday of each month from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the 94th Aero Squadron Restaurant and Lounge, located near Montgomery Field on the south side of Balboa between I 15 (3/4s of a mile west) and SR 163 (1/4 of a mile east).  A social hour begins at 6:00 pm with the business meeting starting at 7:00 pm.
