Report of 3^rd meeting of SDF

Meeting date: 17^th April 2005            Time: 9:30pm to 5pm

Meeting started with recitation of Holy Quran (Mr.Abdul Rehman)

• This meeting hosted by Pakistan Association of the Deaf (PAD).
• Again most of participants reach late, participants appreciated Mr.Mubin uddin (ARCP) as he arrive in time. Participants also appreciated and applauded Ms. Kausar Salmani (PASPAF) as she attended the meeting even though she got injury just few days a go and has pilaster on her leg and foot.
• Mr. Nizamani (raised the points from last meeting report and) suggested minor change for forum name as "Sindh Disability Forum" instead of "Sindh Disabled Forum", that was accepted in last meeting. Mr. Jawed Rais suggested another name as 'United Disability Forum". Participants accepted "Sindh Disability Forum". 
• Mr. Nizamani pointed out that in the last meeting it was decided that one member for organizing committee will be from each organization so include the name of Mr.Jawed Rais as member of organizing committee. House approved the name of Mr Javed rais as member of organizing committee. Mr Javed Rais raised point that The last meeting which held in DWA office may be included as SDF third meeting.
• Mr. Nizamani told that he is coming back on his way from attending meeting of DPI (in Bangkok) he has been elected as vice chairperson for South Asia, in Asia Pacific region. Now member organizations of SDF are recognized as DPI Pakistan members, he asked member for filling out DPI Pakistan membership forms.
• Mr. Nizamani distributed booklet (accessible website and disability phrases dictionary) one each to PI/VI/HI organization.
• Mr. Nizamani also provided the following documents;
  • A design a of foot scale that has written 7 priorities list of BMF for disability movement.
  • UNESCAP form for implementation of BMF
  • National Policy for Persons with disability 2002 and Proposed Draft National Plan of Action (NPA)
  • DPI Asia Pacific strategic plan 2005 - 2009 (and asked for input) 

• Mr. Akram suggested that NPA should be translated in national language (Urdu) so the people from grass root level can read and give their feedback. Also suggested that we all should recommend Govt. to provide such things in Urdu (National) language.

• Mr. Nizamani said he is trying his best to transfer information from international level to local level he emphasized on more coopration.

• More new organizations joined SDF some were from interior (rural) Sindh, everybody introduced him/her and his/her organization.

• Mr. Nizamani again informed on a question about upcoming international seminar in Pakistan and that Ms. Fatima Jafari (ARCP/ESTANARA), Mr. Shahid Memon (PDF), Mr. Irfan Mumtaz (PAD) and Mr. Ghulam Nabi Nizamani are member from Sindh, for organizing committee. He further told that a mission of APCD might visit Pakistan in the starting of month of May. He will proceed to Islamabad. He suggested that if any meeting may be organized on his way to Islamabad he would welcome.

• "driving license for the deaf" selected as target problem in last meeting, Mr. Nizamani told that he met Minister Law in Sanghar, Mr. Akram told that application for appointment has been submitted Minister Law office in sindh secretariat and are waiting for response. Mr. Nizamani said he would try to meet Minister Law again today.

• Mr. Akram showed a draft letterhead, and membership form, and asked for suggestion from the participants. Mr. Kausar Salmani (PASPAF) gave suggestion for logo, Mr. Ehsan Sawrar (PAD) also sketched a log. But nothing finalize yet.

• In place of last temporary committee (having person from each organization), a new formal committee election/selection was offered and various suggestion raised and following formula were applied for committee ( Each kind of disability, gender, rural area may be given priority )

  • 2 members from each disability type plus one woman with Disability.

    PI – Mr. Mobin (ARCP), Mr. Jawed Rais (DWA)
    HI – Mr.Irfan Mumtaz (PAD), Mr. Muhammad Akram (volunteer)

  • 4 persons from interior Sindh
    PI - Mr. Abid Lasharee (SDWA), Mr. Lal M. Baloch (MSSWA),
    HI - Mr.Irfan (PAD) will give the name of a deaf member from Larkana,
    VI - PAB & PDF will give the name of a blind member (woman) from Badin,
    Mr. Ghulam Nabi Nizamani (ASHA)  - volunteer for interior

• Mr. Ghulam Nabi Nizamani announced that he talked with RDO and a Japanese organization agrees to donate some wheel chairs.

• At the end of meeting participants thanked to Mr. Irfan Mumtaz (President - PAD) for hosting a wonderful meeting and for delicious lunch at PAD office.
