Challenge of Faith

In life there are going to be challenges to our faith. These challenges come from all different types of things such as atheism, scientism and dehumanization. The attack from atheism can cause us to think if following God is the fight thing to do. It makes us wonder is we are making the right decision by making ourselves appear weak. Science can make you think whether believing in God is illogical. Their theories can cause you to wonder if there really is a God. Dehumanization can distort your idea of what is real and what is true. They can make you feel like that without material possessions, sex and fun that life has no meaning.

3 Key Ideas

Limitations of the Scientific Method- Although the Scientific method is a good way to find out how things work in the world, it isn’t the best way. It keeps us from being able to explore more than just the physical. It doesn’t deal with the spiritual part that is beyond the physical

Friederich Nietsche- He was an atheist who was bold in what he believed. He believed that Christianity and Judaism where the most disgraceful religions because they teach being humble and being weak. His attack against Christianity can cause Christians to wonder if we should depend on a God we don’t have physical evidence that he exist.

Relationship of Science and Faith- The start of science caused division in the church. There was separation because science believed they were going the right way. But as time went on science and Christianity started to become united. Scientist are starting to acknowledge that there is a supreme being, whether it is God or someone else, and Christianity started to become more excepting of some of the scientific theories.

Question

Do I find myself being dehumanized by the modern culture?

I sometimes find myself desiring certain product that I don’t need, but I want it because it is name brand. This is true mostly in the area of the clothes I like to wear. I usually want to go out and by the new shoes that is popular and everyone is wearing. But I am not really consumed by what the media says about what is good. I am not always concerned about having better clothes than everybody.
