Reggie White: Minister of Defense

Reggie White had a strong faith in God and was willing to preach his word no matter what other people thought of him. Reggie White was ordained as a minister at the age of 17. Reggie White did many ministries to reach out for the people in the cities he played for. Reggie wanted to reach out to the people in the streets and bring them to God. He often did things to reach out to the inner city youths.

There were a few occasions were he did things that were very controversial and gave him a bad image. When he had a conference in front of the Wisconsin state legislature, he gave some stereotypes of different races including Latinos, Asian, Caucasians, African Americans, and Native Ameicans that caused people to label him as a bigot, but they didn’t see the point he was trying to make. What reggie was saying was that all these qualities that different races have are a gift from God, and putting them together would form an image of God. He also talked about homosexuality as being a sin. These statements at the conference in Wisconsin caused many to think less of Reggie White, but he didn’t care what others thought of him because he said he was just preaching God’s message to them.

Reggie White also, after he retired, studied Hebrew and the Torah. People kept saying to him that Reggie White was trying to become Jewish, but that never stopped him from continuing with his studies of the Torah and his pilgrimages to Israel. Reggie said that he was not trying to be Jewish; he was just trying to get a deeper understanding of the Christian faith and of Jesus by studying Hebrew.

Reggie White always acted off of what he believes not being concerned about what other people think of him. He helped out those less privileged than others. He was always caring for others. He had a strong faith in God and he wanted to share it with everybody.
