Dear friend of mine,
You know who you are.
You may not be right here,
But you're never very far.
Dear friend of mine,
We may be miles apart,
Or even just next door,
But you're always in my heart.
Dear friend of mine,
When my eyes fill with tears.
I know what I'll find,
A gentle shoulder to quiet all my fears.
Dear friend of mine,
Let me try to tell you in a very simple way,
How much your friendship means to me,
For friends like you, don’t come along, everyday.
Dear friend of mine,
You've walked a lot of miles with me,
You've laughed a lot of laughs with me and
You've listened to a lot of talk from me.
Dear friend of mine,
That’s what you are.
Precious and few,
Like the diamond, you are.
Dear friend of mine,
If you were a heart, I’d want you to be mine.
You're the sunshine of a never-ending smile,
And you always try, to be so kind.
Dear friend of mine,
That’s what you’ll be,
Today, tomorrow and always,
You’ll hold the lock and key.
Dear friend of mine,
How our friendships grown, without any fear.
For a true friend is very rare.
And as time goes by you've become more dear.
Dear friend of mine,
You're the stars that twinkle in my eyes,
And you're the one that put friend in friendship.
Have you ever wondered why,
Dear friend of mine.
Dear friend of mine,
Thank you isn't enough to say,
For the way you've made me feel.
Lord, I thank you too for my friend, this day.
Amen
