Announcements (August 5, 2001)

1. Our two-bit collection this Sunday is for Sacred Heart Radio. Your contributions will support our a twenty four hour a day Catholic radio station which reaches from Olympia to Mount Vernon. Sacred Heart Radio has touched the lives of many people, strengthening their faith or bringing them back to the Catholic faith. Bumper stickers for Sacred Heart Radio are available at the entrances of the church.

2. Thank you for your contributions last weekend for Human Life of Washington. $465 were donated. Human Life of Washington promotes respect for human life from conception to natural death.

3. Our parish festival will take place next month. If you are able to help, please call Sarah Naff or Betty Weller whose numbers are in the bulletin.

4. You are invited to the celebration of Vespers, Benediction and Procession with Blessed Sacrament every Sunday afternoon at 4:30 p.m.

5. Flower Offering Envelopes are in the pews. You may use them to make an offering in memory of a loved one. Donations will be used to purchase flowers which adorn the altar.

6. We are currently in the process of forming a new parish council. Nominations will be accepted during the next three weekends. If you know a good potential candidate - or if you are interested yourself - please fill out the nomination forms available in the church. You may place your nomination in the collection basket or drop it off at the rectory. Candidates for the parish council must be available to attend a bilingual retreat on October 6 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the parish wide listening session on Oct. 11, 7 to 9 p.m. and a monthly meeting. Council membership will be a three year commitment. (Meetings will not take place during the summer months.) Members must be Catholics in good standing who can assist the pastor in identifying needs and goals of the overall parish.

7. The Memorial Mass for Al Wheeler will take place this Friday, Aug. 10, at 4 p.m. in our church. There will be a vigil service for Al on Thursday evening. More information is in the bulletin.

8. There is a Bible Study for high school students and young adults on Sunday evenings, 7 p.m. in the Ailbe House. For adults there will be a course on Scripture, Church documents and Christian writers. This course, for adults who wish to explore more deeply their faith, will begin this Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m. in the Ailbe House library. More details & phone numbers in bulletin.

9. On Tuesday, August 14, there will be a pot luck for those participating in Eucharistic Adoration. It will begin at 6 p.m. in our school hall. Please see Joe Vandermark, Betty Weller or Angelina Sardea for more information.

10. Darcy Hemstad, R.N., will be available for introduction to the Billings Method of Natural Family Planning and chart review on Sunday, September 9 at 1:45 p.m. in the Ailbe House Library. 11. Scrip is for sale after Mass. Scrip can be ordered for use at various stores in our area.
