WEEKLY LETTER TO PARENTS

August 18, 2008

Dear Parents,

I am very enthused to have your child in my class. I look forward to a year full of fun and learning with the blessings of Jesus. Look for the Sear’s Schedule every Monday for news about the week. Please do not hesitate to call me with questions or concerns.

1. Student-of-the Week. Each week one child will be selected to be the Student-of-the-Week. During that week the student will decorate a bulletin board with pictures and/or other items. The student will also complete an Interest Inventory entitled “All About Me.” During that week the student will have the opportunity to share any special talents. Some students enjoy bringing their pet to school during that week. (Arrangements would need to be made in advance with me.)

2. Snack. Each morning at 9:45 the children are given a short time to eat a nutritious snack. I consider this our “Brain Food” to get us through until lunch. PLEASE comply by sending only healthy foods. Some suggestions are fresh fruit, nuts or trail mix, crackers, cheese, or granola bars. Chips and cookies are not permitted during morning snack.

3. Important Date. Please mark your calendar now for this important activity: April 17, 2009- EPCOT. I will let you know other dates as soon as they become available.

4. Accelerated Reader. All students are required to read books from the AR Book List. Children should have already selected an AR chapter book from their level for the first book report due. I encourage my students to earn a minimum of 6 points each quarter. Please allow at least 10 minutes per night for independent AR reading.

5. Lunch Orders. The September lunch order was in the home visit packet.

DUE: School and classroom forms to be signed - Aug. 22

BOOKS: Please cover all 4 hardbound books as soon as possible. Book Soks work well...you’ll need 3 Jumbo and 1 Regular
