THE OLD TESTAMENT VS THE NEW TESTAMENT Jesus said that he did not come to destroy the law: (Matthew 5:17) Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets, I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. Despite the above claim, Jesus and his disciples certainly destroyed the Law. I am giving below the details of those changes, which Jesus made in the Law: 1: Eye for an eye: One of the Laws of the Old Testament was to resist (Eye for an eye): (Exodus 21:24-25) Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot. Burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe. Now see below, how Jesus changed the above Law: (Matthew 5:38-39) Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth. But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil, but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. 2: To Swear: The Old Testament affirms of taking oath and swearing: (Genesis 21:24) And Abraham said, I will swear. (Exodus 22:11) Then shall an oath of the Lord be between them both. The New Testament oppose taking oath and swearing: (Matthew 5:33-34) Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths. But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God'S throne. 3: The Circumcision: The Old Testament commands to circumcise every male-child, even God declares that it is His covenant: (Genesis 17:10) This (is) My covenant, which ye shall keep, between Me and you and thy seed after thee; Everyman child among you shall be circumcised. And the New Testament condemns circumcision, that's why till today Christians never circumcise, while the Jews still keep the Law: (Galatians 5:2) Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing. And the most interesting point is that, Paul claims that if any Christian would circumcised, then Jesus will profit him nothing, but he forgot that Jesus himself was circumcised according to the Law: (Luke 2:21) And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called Jesus... 4: Eating Pork: Eating Pork is forbidden in the Old Testament, even the Pig is considered to be unclean, and the Bible-followers should not touch the Pig, nor eat it's meat according to the Old Testament: (Leviticus 11:7-8) And the pig, though it has a split hoof completely divided, does not chew the cud; it is unclean for you. You must not eat their meat or touch their carcasses; they are unclean for you. But the New Testament declares all food clean for the Christians (that's why the Christians are fond of eating Pork, and love the Pig), so the New Testament and the Christians are destroying the Law regarding Pig and eating Pork: (Luke 12:29) And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. (Acts 11:9) But a voice from heaven answered a second time, 'What God has cleansed, no longer consider unholy.' 5: The Divorce: The Old Testament gives a man the right to divorce his wife: (Deuteronomy 24:1) When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favourin his eyes, because hath found some uncleanness in her; then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and givethit in her hand, and send her out of his house. The New Testament oppose the right of divorce, even it is mentioned in the New Testament that marrying a divorced woman is same as committing adultery: (Matthew 5:32) But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery, and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committed adultery. 6: The Sabbath: It is strongly commanded in the Old Testament to keep the Sabbath day: (Exodus 16:29) See, for that the LORD hath given you the Sabbath, therefore He giveth you on the sixth day the bread of two days, abide ye every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day. (Exodus 20:8) Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. (Leviticus 19:3) Ye shall fear every man, his mother, and his father, and keep my Sabbaths; I am the LORD your God. (Leviticus 19:30) Ye shall keep My Sabbaths, and reverence My sanctuary; I am the LORD. The New Testament does not commands to keep the Sabbath, even Jesus himself didn't keep the Sabbath, that's why Jews wanted to kill him: (John 5:16) And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had don these things on the Sabbath day. (Colossians 2:16) Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of any holy-day, or of the new moon, or of the Sabbath (days). 7: Drinking of Wine: The Old Testament strongly forbids drinking of wine, vinegar and liquor of grapes: (Numbers 6:3) He shall separate himself from wine, or vinegar of strong drink, neither shall he drink any liquor of grapes, nor eat moist grapes, or dried. (Isaiah 5:22) Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink. The New Testament completely oppose the New Testament on this matter, because The New Testament commands the Christians to drink wine, even Jesus calls it his blood: (Matthew 26:27-28) And he (Jesus) took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it, for this is my blood of the New Testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. (1 Timothy 5:23) Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities. 8: Men's Long Hair: The Old Testament has nothing against men's long hair, even in some verses it commands men to keep long hair: (Judges 13:5) For, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son, and no razor shall come on his head, for the child shall be Nazarite unto God from the womb; and he shall begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines. (Numbers 6:5) All the days of the vows of his separation there shall no razor come upon his head; until the daysbe fulfilled, in which he separated (himself) unto LORD, he shall be holy, (and) shall let the locks of the hair of his head grow. But the New Testament forbids men to keep long hair: (1 Corinthians 11:14) Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him. 9: Polygamy: The Old Testament has nothing against polygamy, even it approves Polygamy: (Genesis 31:17) Then Jacob rose up, and set his sons and his wives upon camels. (Exodus 21:10) If he takes him another wife; her food, her raiment, and her duty of marriage shall he not diminish. (Deuteronomy 21:15) If a man have two wives, one beloved and another hated, and they have born him children, both the beloved and hated; and if the firstborn son be hers that was hated. (Judges 8:32) And Gideon had threescore and ten sons of his body begotten; for he had many wives. Contradicting to the Old Testament, the New Testament condemns polygamy: (Matthew 19:9) And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery; and who so marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery. (Mark 10:11) And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife and marry another, commitheth adultery against her. 10: The Lord: The Old Testament uses the word "Lord" only for God of Israel (Yahweh), who is the Creator of the universe: (Genesis 2:8) And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed. (Exodus 10:25) And Moses said, Thou must give us also sacrifices and burnt offspring, that we may sacrifice unto the Lord our God. (Leviticus 4:22) When a ruler hath sinned, and done somewhat through ignorance against any of the commandments of the Lord his God, concerning things which should not be done, and his guilty. (Deuteronomy 1:30) The Lord your God which goeth before you. (Isaiah 7:11) Ask thee a sign of the Lord thy God; ask it either in the depth, or in the height above. Contradicting to the Old Testament, the New Testament uses the word "Lord" for Jesus instead of God of Israel: (Matthew 13:51) Jesus saith unto them, Have ye understood all these things? They say unto him, Yea, Lord. (Luke 12:41) Then Peter said unto him, Lord, speakest thou this parable unto us, or even to all? (Romans 5:1) Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 1:2) Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. 11: Jesus, the Only Son of God? Though Christians claim that Jesus was the only Son of God, but the Old Testament mentions several Sons of God: (Genesis 6:2) That the Sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose. (Job 1:6) Now there was a day when the Sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them. (Exodus 4:22) Then you (Moses) shall say to Pharaoh, thus says the LORD, "Israel is My son, My firstborn" (Jeremiah 31:9) With weeping they will come; And by supplication I will lead them; I will make them walk by streams of waters; On a straight path in which they will not stumble; For I am a father to Israel, And Ephraim is My firstborn. (Psalm 2:7) I will surely tell of the decree of the LORD: He said to me, "You (David) are My Son, Today I have begotten You." (1 Chronicles 28:6) He (God) said to me (David), "It is Solomon your son who shall build My house and My courts, for I have chosen him to be my Son, and I will be his Father." So, according the Old Testament, God has many Sons, but contradicting to the Old Testament, the New Testament claims that Jesus was God's Only Son: (John 3:18) He that beliveth on him is not condemned; but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the Only Begotten Son of God. 12: Jesus vs Solomon: The Old Testament claims that God made Solomon unique and greater than all, there was no like Solomon during his life-time, nor will be after his death: (1 Kings 3:12) Behold, I have done according to thy words: Lo, I (God) have given thee (Solomon) a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any rise like unto thee. But the New Testament falsifies the above claim of the Old Testament, and calls Jesus greater than Solomon: (Matthew 12:42) The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it; for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, a greater than Solomon is here. 13: Was Jesus 1st to rise from dead? The Old Testament says that there were some persons who rose after their death, such as Elijah and Elisha: (1 Kings 17:22) And the LORD heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived. (2 Kings 13:21) And it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold, they spied a band of men; and they cast the man into the sepulchre of Elisha: and when the man was let down, and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood up on his feet. But contradicting to the above, the New Testament falsifies the above claims of the New Testament, and says that Jesus was the first who rose after death: (Acts 26:23) That Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people and to the Gentiles. Besides the above differences between the Old Testament & the New Testament, there are many other contradictions, which I'm discussing below: 14: Zechariah or Jeremy? (Zechariah 11:11-13) And it was broken in that day, and so the poor of the flock that waited upon me knew that it was word of the LORD. And I (Zachariah) said unto them, if ye think good, give me my price thirty pieces of silver. And the LORD said unto me, Cast it unto the potter, a goodly price that I was prised at of them. And I took the 30 pieces of silver, and cast them to the potter in the house of the LORD. The Old Testament describes links the above event to Zechariah but thew New Testament describes the above event happened to Jeremy: (Matthew 27:9) Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, And they took the thirtypieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the children of Israel did value. 15: How many were in Jacob's family when they came into Egypt? (Genesis 46:27) They were 70 (Acts 7:14) They were 75 16: How should parents be treated? (Deuteronomy 5:16) Honor thy father and mother. (Mark 3:32-33) And the multitude sat about him (Jesus), and they said unto him (Jesus), Behold, thy mother and thy brethren without seek for thee. And he (Jesus) answered them saying, Who is my mother, or my brethren? (Luke 9:59-60) And he said unto another, Follow me, But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury the dead.. 17: Was Jeconiah the son or grandson of Josiah? (1 Chronicles 3:15-16) He was Josiah's grandson. (Matthew 1:11) He was Josiah's son. 18: What was the priest's name exactly? (1 Samuel 21:1) Then David came to Nob to Ahimelech the priest. (Mark 2:25-26) And he said unto them, Have ye never read what David did ... How he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest? 19: Where was Jacob buried? (Genesis 50:13) Jacob was buried at Machpelah. (Acts 7:15-16) Jacob was buried at Shechem. 20: Who was Zechariah's father? (2 Chronicles 24:20-21) Jehoiada (Matthew 23:35) Berechias 21: Who was the father of Salah? (Genesis 10:24; 11:12) Arphaxed (Luke 3:35-36) Cainan 22: Contradiction in the genealogy from David to Josias! (1 Chronicles 3:10-16) 1-David; 2-Solomon; 3-Roboam; 4-Abia; 5-Asa; 6- Jehoshaphat; 7-Joram; 8-Ahaziah; 9- Azariah; 10-Jotham; 11-Ahaz; 12-Hezekiah; 13-Manasseh; 14-Amon; 12-Josia. (Matthew 1:6-11) 1-David; 2-Solomon; 3-Roboam; 4-Abia; 5-Asa; 6-Josaphat; 7-Joram; 8-Ozias; 9-Joatham; 10-Achaz; 11-Ezekias; 12-Manasses; 13-Amon; 14-Josias. 23: Should we judge others or not? (Leviticus 19:15) Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment; thou shalt not respect the person of the poor, nor honor the person of the mighty; but in righteousness shalt thou judge thy neighbor. (Matthew 7:1) Judge not or you will be judged 24: Did Coniah have kids? (Jeremiah 22:28-30) Coniah was declared to be forever childless by God. (Matthew 1:12) Coniah (also called by the Greek name Jechoniasis) is listed as a direct ancestor of Jesus Christ. |
