Information about the May 22nd Competition :

All contestants should arrive at Pennsbury High School by 11 a.m. to register and submit recorded tapes and/or CDs of songs.  Contestants must bring student I.D. or some other form of identification to verify age and school. Home-schooled contestants must provide verification of age.  Tapes or CDs should contain instrumental only; no other back-up voices should be heard. A contestant may sing more than one selection as they progress through the various rounds. However, each song must be on a separate tape/CD with the contestant’s name and in what order they choose to sing.  If more than one song is on a tape or CD, only the first song will be used on the day of the event. A contestant also may choose to sing the same song for all rounds or for any number of rounds, as long as they notify the audio person upon registration.  No changes can be made once the performance has started.  A contestant should also bring to the event back-up tapes/CDs in the event of a problem. Tapes/CDs will be returned at the conclusion of the event.

An impartial judging panel, consisting of local celebrities and professionals, will again rate each contestant on the same criteria as noted above. The judges may or may not give actual feedback at the time of performance.  This in no way predicts a contestant’s final standing in the contest. Contestants may change outfits between rounds if they so desire.  All contestants must be appropriately attired.  Absolutely no foul language or inappropriate gestures will be permitted.

Only contestants will be eligible for free admittance.  All friends, family and relatives will be charged an $8 entrance fee whether or not they choose to stay for the entire event or portions thereof.  There is no limit on the number of friends, family or relatives who may attend.

Only contestants and PHS volunteers will be permitted backstage.

No one will be permitted to enter the auditorium while a contestant is performing.  There will be a very short break between each contestant so that attendees may leave or enter.

After the preliminary rounds, the judges will choose the top 16 scorers.  Those finalists will return at 7 p.m. for the final rounds.  Rounds will go as follows:  16 to 8 to 4 to the two top winners.
