Althoug there has been dogs at my home ever since I can remember, I became working as a profissional dog trainer in 1985, at the Portuguese Air Force and started breeding dogs in 1996, having bought Cuca (Broa was her real name) a Cão da Serra de Aires (Portuguese Sheepdog) bitch, wich gave me some pleasent results in the portuguese Agility championship. Later, in 1999, I bought Seara, a wonderful Rafeiro do Alentejo female who came to find graet success in dog shows all around Portugal. As told by many judges and breeders, Seara was to be a graet champion. Unhappilly, she died just before delivering what was to be her first litter. She still lives in our hearts and I've decided to name my kennel after her. I´m associated to the Portuguese Kennel Club (Clube Português de Canicultura), the Cão da Serra de Aires Breed Club, the Rafeiro do Alentejo Breeders Association and, at last, the Clube Cinófilo do Alentejo. Within this organization I've been for more than six years part of the team who puts up Canibeja, a three days event were you can find almost everything about dogs: shows, agility contests, sheepdog trials, obedience, hound races, police and military dogs, seminarys and much more. I breed exclusively Serra de Aires and Rafeiro do Alentejo because those are autochtonous breeds from Alentejo in the Southern Portugal and also because, in different ways, they gather the qualities I expect to find in a dog. The Cão da Serra de Aires reveals excelent aptitude for both agility and sheepdog trials. My name is Rui Teixeira and I wish you have a good time visiting my website. I hope you enjoy it. |
