British Invasion  - march 2004
This past February marks the 40th anniversary of the British invasion with the Beatles appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show. In 1984 there was a second British invasion with British pop music. And who could forget the influential British pop culture which formed so many musical genres of American music. Even today as we step into the new millennium, British bands, culture and fashion continue to influence Americas music and the club culture. Buckingham being the current club spotlighting British talent such as Boy George and Tasty Tim. Recently I got to hear Tasty Tim DJ for the first time spinning an electric sexy mix of titillating dance tunes that had most of my friends gagging and crooning for more. On another note, Taboo closed in February after 100 performances. As a whole Taboo was a success. It is the defining of a generation that gives props to those who once ruled the London club scene. Even though the show has closed it will continue to play on in London’s West End just around the corner from where the club originated. Historically the British are coming and will continue to come for many years and hopefully stay.
