Frozen Acequia Dam, December 1996
near Questa, New Mexico

There are still many in Northern New Mexico who irrigate using the traditional acequia system, in which an official releases the precious water to a particular family for a certain amount of time.  Many of these systems have been in use for over 200 years.  This will someday become an extinct concept, as water rights are worth more monetarily than farming, and cities like Taos, Santa Fe, and Albuquerque continue to grow.
San Francisco de Asis Church, May 2000

This is considered the most photographed church in New Mexico, and has been painted ot photographed by everyone from Georgia O'Keefe to Ansel Adams.  There's something about the rounded corners, the massive buttresses,  and the sheer size of the walls.  It is also one of the oldest churches, built around 1772 by the Franciscan brothers.
Two views of the adobe structure.  Both were taken on Kodak Gold 100 with polarizing filter.
