Collective Soul is just the hottest band ever! I am dying to hear some new releases! How can I find out where they will play next?
Comments:
Edgefest was great! Collective Soul rocked, (so did the tea party, the only disappointment was OLP). At first no one was into it but by about the second song, lots of people were coming back in. It was great when they play Crazy Train, that is such a wi
ked cover song. Everyone should go see Collective Soul.
Comments:
It wasn't Edgefest but it was in Canada and it was cooold. It was at the MOLSEN ICE POLAR BEACH PARTY.It was C souls last show of the tour and they played front of about 400 people half of that was locals who never seen a concert in there home town and it
as wild. Ill tell more about it just write me

Edgefest 97 was one of the greatest experiences
of my life. Collective Soul rocked!!! The high
point for me, however, did not come while they
were playing, but rather an hour before they
played, when I had the pleasure of
MEETING THE BAND!!!!!!!!!!!
As those of you who were there know,
Collective Soul did an autograph session
before they played. I still remember exactly what
Ed Roland said to me, before he signed my
paper. He said "Hi, I'm Ed."
As if I didn't know who he was!
As if I hadn't spent a large part of the past four
years listening to his music!
That was awesome.
And on top of that I'm an American!
What luck, to be in Canada during
Edgefest '97!
What a summer.
Comments:
Strange, but in a good way. I've never seen so many people of different age groups and different backgrounds brought together. It was a totally unique experience. When Collective Soul took the stage there was a complete scence of love through out the c
owd, which was surprising considering the fact that it was about 35 degrees celcius.
Comments:
Saw edgefest on Labour Day and it was a lot of fun, except the first couple of bands on the main stage sucked but moshing on the side stage was fun. When collective soul came on they absolutely stole the show. Their live version of Blame was even bette
than the album, actually all their songs were. Gel and The world I know were also good. The only bad thing was they only got 50 minutes and no encore, however their singalong of shine at the end was just awesome. To end the whole thing off Our Lady Pe
ce came on and played for about 90 minutes. Not only did they get everyone singing along and moshing to their big, louder hits but they played awesome and heartfelt versions of 4am (my favorite song) and car crash which I wouldn't have thought they would
have done. On the whole much fun was derived by all.

My edgefest experience was awesome. I have never been to anything like that before. I mean with soo many bands. Collective soul is my all time favorite. I will always keep in touch with their music.
The moshpit at edgefest was the greatest. The feeling of suddenly not being able to breathe because of all the people crushing you is something I will always remember.. it is just deadly, especially the body surfing. Man i will never forget it..!!!!
Comments:
WE MET THEM!!! My friend and I went to Edgefest for the sole reason to see Collective Soul and were so surprised that they were going to be signing autographs.. so we stood in line early and were fortunate enough to get their autorgraphs and meet them...
ur lives have not been the same since.
They did an unforgetable version of Ozzy Osbourne's "Crazy Train'.. I will never again be able to hear that song and not think of them and how much better it sounded.....
I had to share this with others who understand the degree of admiration I have for this Quintet!
'In a moment it could happen we could wake up and be laughing..."

Edgefest was my first time seeing Collective Soul and it was totally amazing!! Strangely enough I was not a total crazy fan like I am now. I wish I'd known about the autograph session they'd done, cause then well, I would've gone! The rest of the bands
played great too, especially The Tea Party and Our Lady Peace. I hope CS are part of Edgefest next year too, and to anyone who missed it - You missed out on a great day! I was very sad when I watched MuchMusic's coverage of Edgefest and they interviewed
very band but Collective Soul and showed about 15 secs of them and that's it!! What's up with that??
Comments:
I had an awesome time. I won VIP passes from the local radio station in Edmonton. I met almost all the bands, or members of. I spent a half an hour talking to Will and the rest of Collective Soul at the HMV tent. They all remembered me from '95 in Victori
, well with exception to Ross who was suspiciously absent from the autograph session having a slight sickness to his stomach from the night before. But all in all I had a great time. All the bands I went to see played my fave songs, and Collective Soul di
an amazing cover of "Crazy Train" (Ozzy Osbourne). Our Lady Peace was definitely one of the highlights of the day aswell.
Comments:
The Edgefest was cool! Especially the Collective Soul autograph session, having the opportunity to meet the band. I got my "Collective Soul" and "Disciplined Breakdown" signed. Their performance was cool as well, but the things that I don't like were t
e moshing and crowd surfing and stuff. I got hit in the head. Also, I couldn't really see the band performing on stage because everybody were pushing pretty roughly.
Other bands were pretty good, especially I Mother Earth. But I gotta tell you, nothing could beat Collective Soul 'cause they rule!
Comments:
IT SIMPLY ROCKED!!!
it was the first time I see CS live in concert and it was worth every minute of it. They played Simple, listen, P. Declaration, blame, W I know, gel, S Y man, Where the river flows, (crazy train by Ozzy) shine, december, not praticulary in that order.
I'll definitely see them again!!
Comments:
edgefest was awsome. all the bands were great, especially collective soul. they rocked at thunderbird stadium. so did tea party and our lady peace.
Comments:
There's no adjective in the world to describe Edgefest. Hearing bands like Collective Soul, Tea Party, OLP, Econoline Crush play in the same day was enough to almost make my heart stop. WOW!!!!!
Can't wait to do it again.
Comments:
i was almost done then i got diiconected. anyway edgefest was fucking awsome i waved to lots of people and they waved back.like jag and chris(ime) and A.O.E.i went to watch glueleg they were good and RUBEN and CHOWDER looked really good. then i went to wa

Ah...Edgefest, what can I possiby say that hasn't been said before. It ROCKED!!!!
The only thing that sucked was the moshing and crowd surfing - because I couldn't get close enough to the stage (ands Collective Soul) without being kicked in the head. BUT...meeting the boys and getting their autographs made up for it. I have such admi
ation for those of you who could actually speak to them (I just went mute).
Collective Soul was great, definitely my favorite part of the day and even the music critic at the Vancouver Sun said that "Collective Soul put on one the better sets of the day". Would we expect anything less?
Other highlights were Dodgy (and the very young girl behind me screaming "Nigel, Nigel - I love you") and the Tea Party. Its five days later now and I've finally calmd down.

It was awesome, but damned hot!. They weren`t kidding when they said the most popular guy there was the guy with the hose. But, by the time Collective Soul came on, things were just about perfect, and they gave a performance to surpass even that. Colle
tive Soul Rules!(Especially `The World I Know`and `Precious Declaration`)

well,my edgefest experience was pretty g
od. I go t to meet a bunch of bands like Collective Soul, Age of Electric and Holly McNarland(think that's how you spell it). Despite the heat it turned out to be a cool concert, there were some french bands I'd never heard of before the concert (and whic
I still don't know of). For Age of electric my boyfriend and I were right at the front so that rocked, but for the main stage bands I didn't get to get that close cause of the mosh pit, but I could see pretty good from where I was standing. Our Lady Pea
e kicked all ass performing (even though the bass at the starting could have been turned down just A LITTLE). The Tea Party rocked too, it was my first time seeing them live and I thought they were really good. That pretty much sums up my experience at Ed
efest '97...To all those who didn't get to go I'll just say that you missed a hell of a concert!

Well, how should I begin? This is going to sound kind of lame next to Andrew and Sue's tales of meeting
the band, but I'll write it anyway. We decided to skip all the boring bands and came at 4:30, in time for I Mother Earth, who were okay. I found out after that there was an autograph session with CS, but my friends who were there waited in line for an h
ur and they cut them off at the people right in front of them, so they didn't even get autographs. It was really hot and there was someone with a hose spraying the crowd with water. Anyway, after IME, THEY came on, and we went up front for a better view
Being only 5 feet tall has its disadvantages. Everyone was screaming and pushing and moshing and stuff. It was great. I got a camera in and took lots of pictures. My friend even got a couple from above while he was body-surfing. Hope they come out.
As best as I can remember, they played: DB, Listen, Smashing Young Man, December, The World I Know, Crowded Head, Revolution, Gel, Blame, PD, Crazy Train, Where The River Flows, and Shine. I might have mixed up the order a bit. They all looked GREAT,
ven Ross in his funny goggles. Anyway, the rest was okay but not worth mentioning cause they don't compare to CSoul. I had a great time and I'll never forget it. Hope the pictures come out okay!

Well, I won't repeat what you've already read ( I was with andrew & sue.) But I'd like
to say that I am not a bubbling idiot (LOL) and when I met the band I was quite calm and collected (meeting Ross & Ed in last March is another story, however.) All four headlining bands totally exceeded my expectations. As for BTK....excuse me, but the re
son everyone hated them is not because of their music but because of their attitude. Their greeting to the crowd was "Rock & roll is dead motherf***ers!"
and "Life is all about pot!" Anyways, not to dwell on the negative parts. Edgefest was a blast. Highlights included chatting with Ed (who we had all to ourselves for a significant period of time) shaking Ed & Will's hands, seeing Dean face to face ( he's
the hottest thing I've ever seen, not to sound shallow) getting autographs from the entire band, and watching the band drive off in a golf cart waving the flag with a message we had given them. Wait, these aren't Edgefest highlights, they are CS highlig
ts. But I'm forgiven, 'cuz this IS a CSoul page, right?!

This was my second time seeing Collective Soul live, and i
was just as great as the first time. The first time was at Guelph University in September '95. Both times they put on an amazing show and really had the crowd into it. All of their songs are incredable, but when you hear "Shine" live, it is one of li
es greatest experiences!

I really liked how Collective Soul got the audience into the music. He to
d us to sing along (like we wouldn't anyway) and (here's the best part) he told everyone NOT to push and shove, just jump up and down. I'm not sure what the people right in front of the stage were doing, but where I was standing (about 40 feet from the s
age) people were listening and not pushing at all. I think it made it a lot better. How am I supposed to listen to the music if I can't stand up? Anyway, Collective Soul were awesome and so were BTK!! I'm not much into rap, but I thought for a rap group
they were pretty good and it was really mean how people were telling them to get off the stage. And when they said it was their last song, everyone cheered!!! How would you like it if people were glad when you left the stage??????!!!!!!!!!!

Use lots of adjectives eh Sari? Really amazing, and good, and incredible, and...etc.
So you've already heard Andrew's account, but I'm going to go into details, 'cuz I'm still excited.
First of all, we lined up at five for the autograph session with the band that was supposed to start at five-thirty. This mean, old, witch (I'm exaggerating) told us that we might not have the chance to meet the band, 'cuz they were late, and they'd only
have twenty minutes. We *shivered* in fear, but clung to the hope that the band would see us eager kids over everyone (and that Ross would of course drop to his knees and propose *laugh*) FINALLY (it was worth the wait), Ed came over the hill, followed by
oss, and the three band members that Amanda and Bryn and I hadn't met (we were also with Jenn and Andrew, who are CSoul virgins) Right away, Amanda started to shake, even after the band had gone into the tent. We tried to calm down, which was near impossi
le, and arrived at the table. Will was first, and I said, "I've heard you're the nicest of them all!" (*smack* didn't realize how mean that was to the others until I had said it!)Then I said, "but you're all so nice, so I dunno how that could be.." (*grin
Good cover eh?) He took my ceedee cover and said, "Hey, how ya doin'?" Cool accent. Then Shane signed, and then Ross DIDN'T, 'cuz I had it already, and I said, "So, here's the thing. We wanted to buy you something, but couldn't think of anything to get y
u, and as a last resort we picked up this flag from Walmart!" So I handed this Canadian flag to them that we had written on, and they were like, "Oh! Cool!" And Ross said something like, "I want to put that mumblemumble," and Dean said, "No, we'll hang it
in the bus!" And I was like, "cool!" So then Dean signed my book, and Ed had already signed too, so I said, "k, when we met you in Toronto, you had little idea of the internet, but there are a lot of great sites out there that prove that fans love you, so
we made up a list of some, that have links to the others." And Ed was like, "great! thanks a lot!" Then we told them how much we liked their music, and headed around the back of the tent, to sit and go over everything that happened (and to be sure that Am
nda wasn't going to faint) Ross came along and got on this four-wheeler, and I asked him for a pick (he searched his pockets, but alas, he had none), then Dean and Will and Ed and Shane hopped on it too, and we wished them luck, and they drove off, Dean w
ving our flag as they went. We were beyond excited! We started laughing and jumping up and down, and headed off towards the stage, which was when Amanda's bag broke open and all of the contents spilled everywhere (another laugh fest)
The concert was incredible, Ross was wearing his goggles *laugh* and Will kept looking at us! (this might be our imagination, but it really seemed like it) Dean smiled at me at one point, and then I got swept into the mosh pit, where I was crushed, but st
ll singing! *grin* After the concert, we needed somewhere to sit, so we sat by the backstage area, and, who should walk right out, but the infamous Ed Roland! Nobody crowded him or anything, he just came out and talked to some people who he apparently had
to talk to, and then he turned to us, shook our hands, and talked about his guitar, and Edgefest in Montreal, and the next tour date etc. *phew* That's the whole thing. If you need more details, I obviously have no problem sharing! *grin*

Edgefest was definatly the best. I met the best band in the whole entire world. If you haven't guessed it.
COLLECTIVE SOUL. I first was at the autographing session and got Hints autographed then I took a couple pictures then asked Ross for a pick and got one. After that I snuck around back with Amanda, Sue, Jenn, and Bryn and talked with Ross for a few minu
es.
I took pictures of them riding off in the golf cart waving the miniture Canada flag we gave them. Ed was talking about the flag and really wanted to bring it on stage but Dean was making fun of it for wanting to. Ed told us that after they finished pl
ying (We talked with Ed for a couple minutes after their Slot). The only thing that was bad was the band BTK.
Collectively,
Andrew
