    What is Match Properties ?

Match Properties (MatchProp) is not a Solid Edge command.

It is a utility developed by SeGuruCool.

The utility can be downloaded Here.

MatchProp works in Solid Edge Draft.

Using MatchProp, you can match Layer, Color, Linetype and LineWidth of the following elements :

Point, line, arc, circle, ellipse and curve.

You cannot match properties of Drawing View Edges.
The utility is valid for objects created using the respective Solid Edge commands.

How to Use - Source Object

Create a tool for the Match Properties macro.

Select a Source Object and then click the Tool.

    See figure.

If you select multiple objects as source, MatchProp will display a warning.

Also, if the selected object is not valid ot no object is selected, warning is displayed.

How to Use - Target Object

If the source object is valid, the Match Properties dialog will appear.

Keep the dialog floating and select one or more target objects.

Click the Match button on the dialog that is stll floating around.

The dialog box will always Remain on Top.

Note that since you have all check boxes marked ON, all properties from the source will be matched to the target object(s).

Also, if any target object is not of a valid type, it is filtered out automatically.

How to Use - Target Object

If you notice that you have not selected all target objects, click on them now and again click on the Match button.

Further, if there are some objects for which you need not match the color but only the linetype, layer and linewidth, then click the Color check box to remove the check mark from it.

Now pick the target objects (for which color is not to be matched) and Click the Match button.

Notice that all but the color properties are matched to the target objects.

When you want to pick another source object, click the Close button and pick another source button and start the MatchProp command again.

How to Use - Another Source

Similarly, panning to another area of the drawing, select an elliptical arc as a source object.

    Then click the MatchProp tool.

After the dialog box appears, deselect the Linewidth and Color checkbox.

You only want to match the Layer and Linetype.

How to Use - Another Destination

Now select the other lines and arc and click the Match button.

Note that only the Linetype has changed and the Lineweidth and Color remains same.

Let the dialog box remain floating.

Select the lines and arcs again and also check all options ON in the Match Properties dialog.

Click the Match button and note that this time all properties are matched.
