The Ethiopian Students Association Article 1: The Name of the Club The official name of the club will be the “Ethiopian Students Association of west virginia” Article 2: Purpose and Objectives of the club The purpose of Ethiopian Students Association of westvirgina is to provide support in educational, social and cultural aspects to all Ethiopian students attending WVUTECH. Our objectives include the following: To provide academic help in all subjects to students in need of academic support To equip new Ethiopian students with information regarding policies and provides related to WVUTECH. To inform Ethiopian students about their rights and responsibilities while attending WVUTECH To introduce Ethiopian culture and values to the College Community. Article 2: Membership Membership is open to all WVUTECH Students, Staff and Faculty regardless of their age, sex, race, color, religious beliefs, national origin or handicap. Article 4: Leadership President: The President must be present at all meetings and lead the meetings The President oversees the activities of the club. The President serves as an Inter-Club Council representative. Vice-president: The Vice-president will take the place of the President in his/her absence. The Vice-president will make arrangements for and will publicize meetings. Secretary: The Secretary will keep club records and take minutes of every meeting. Treasurer: The Treasurer will keep an accounting of the financial records for the club. Students senate representative: The student senate representative will attend all Inter-Club Council meetings, report to club membership regarding I.C.C. activities, present request for funding the I.C.C. Leadership Regulations: Terms: Maximum of two semesters. Elections: To be held during the last meeting of each semester. Qualifications: Must be a current student at WVUTECH and have at least 2.0 GPA. Vacancies: For Office of President: The Vice-president will take his/her place. For Office of Vice-president: The President will assign a replacement. For Office of Secretary: The President will assign a replacement. For Office of Treasurer: The President will assign a replacement. For Office of Student Senate Representative: The President will assign a replacement. Any officer who does not meet their duty responsibilities may be voted out by 2/3 majority of the membership. Article 5: Meetings A formal meeting is to be held twice a month during the School Calendar Year. The President and Vice-President may call emergency meetings, in the interim, if needed. Rules and Order: Meetings should take place in an orderly fashion. Anyone disturbing or interrupting the flow of order may be asked to leave the meeting. A person may speak when given the floor to speak by the president. A person must raise his/her hand to be acknowledged. Meetings will begin and end at the scheduled time. Robert’s Rule of Order should be followed (Parliamentary Procedures.) Article 6: Committee Committees will be established as needed. Article 7: Dues No fee is required to become a member. However, any financial or material contributions are welcome. Article 8: Advisor The advisor of ESAWV shall be any interested Staff or Faculty Member of WVUTECH school. Article 9: Statement of Conformity The ESAWV shall abide by the rules and regulation of the College and its official agencies. Article 10: Amendments Amendments to this Constitution require a vote with at least 40% of the Members present. Amendments will be official when received and approved by the _______________. Article 11: Statement of Original Approval This Constitution shall become official only after approval of the Office of Students Life. |
