Masonic Timelines and Dates
Ancient Craft Masonry
Commence their era with the creation of the World as recorded in the Book of Genesis, using the suffix A.L. ("Anno Lucis" or "in the Year of Light").  To convert present date into A.L., add 4000 to present date.  Ex.:  1998 would be 5998 A.L.
Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite
Commence their era using the Jewish chronology, using the suffix A.M. ("Anno Mundi" or "in the Year of the World").  To convert present date into A.M., add 3760 to present date.  Ex.:  1998 would be 5758 A.M.
The Holy Royal Arch
Commence their era using the reconstruction of Solomon's Temple by Zerubbabel, using the suffix A.I. ("Anno Inventions" or "in the Year of the Discovery").  To convert present date into A.I., add 530 to present date.  Ex.:  1998 would be 2528 A.I.
Royal and Select Masters
Commence their era using the completions of Solomon's Temple, using the suffix A.D. ("Anno Depositionis" or "in the Year of the Deposit").  To convert present date into A.D., add 1000 to present date.  Ex.:  1998 would be 2998 A.D.
Order of the Temple (Knights Templar)
Commence their era using the founding of the Order, using the suffix A.O. ("Anno Ordinis" or "in the Year of the Order").  To convert present date into A.O., subtract 1118 from present date. Ex.:  1998 would be 880 A.O.
Order of High Priesthood
Commence their era using the date of the blessing of Abraham by the High Priest Melchzedek, the King of Salem, using the suffix A.B. ("Anno Benedicionis" or "in the Year of the Blessing").  To convert present date into A.B., add 1913 to present date.  Ex.:  1998 would be 3911 A.B.
