On his way to Earth, the Maganac Corporation took the Winner shuttle hostage. When Mr. Winner asked to speak with his son, Quatre defied him, shouting his contempt at being "Born of a tube". Rasid slapped the boy and told him to have pride in himself. Quatre walked to the back and had a conversation with Instructor H, who informed him that all of the Maganac was test-tube born and had pride in the fact. Quatre, upon seperating from the scientist, overheard a Maganac telling the Alliance of the group's location. He captured and tied up the man, taking him to Rasid. The man escaped and tried to shoot the leader of Maganac, but Quatre knocked the older man out of his way, taking the bullet through the arm. Rasid, too, was injured, but survived.
The Alliance attacked. Quatre begged to be allowed ot pilot, saying it was his fault the man had escaped to injure Rasid. Rasid considered, and ordered that his suit and goggles, the Maganac symbol of command, be given to Quatre. The thirteen year old boy help off the Alliance suits, giving Maganac a chance to escape. Rasid swore his undying allegiance to "Master Quatre" from that point on.
Two years later, Quatre overheard his pacifistic father arguing the point of war with Instructor H. Following the scientist, he told him of an abandoned resource colony. In exchange, H gave him the Gundam Sandrock. Quatre contacted Rasid and joined him on Earth...then commenced the altered Operation Meteor.
