Samsung

This is known as Seoul's "new" business district. It's the area where you'll find the Korean World Trade Center and COEX, which is Asia's largest underground shopping mall. To get there, take the Green Line (#2) to Samsung Station.

O'Kim's

Located upstairs from the COEX Mall, O'Kim's is a little slice of Bavaria here in Asia. It's cavernous, loud, and crowded, just like a brauhaus in Munich, I suppose. They brew their own beer (hefeweizen, helles, and dunkles), which is extremely tasty and fresh. O'Kim's is a great change of pace from so many hofs and other Korean bars where your beer choices are limited to Cass, Cafri, and Budweiser. Mind you, the luxury comes at a price: though the list price of the microbrews is not too bad, they charge 10% tax and 10% service charge as well. Food is quite expensive, and if you go after 8pm, you can't order off the main menu. A house band plays American music every night except Sundays, and they tend to be LOUD. So loud that I've actually considered not going there anymore. But the beer keeps bringing me back.
