Vaginal Gingivitis review from Metal Warrants

This is is truly one of the most brutal, drudge filled deathmetal CDs I've heard in a while. Michigan based Septic Asphyxiation belt out some of the most brutal, raw sounding death metal on the planet. Guttural and shrieking vocals send the horrific sounds of death right through you.The production on this release is pretty bad. But being a fan/collector of demos I'd rate this one fairly high in the sound department. Seven tracks of putrid proportions, ' Indecent Cunt Chewing', 'Fatal Sodomy', and 'Vodka Blood Bath' just to name a couple tracks. Some twisted, groove-laden death that issure not to go unnoticed in the underground. Shouldn't be long before these guys get signed. Record companies take notice.

These guys will kick those old men in Six Feet Under, or perhaps if Cannibal Corpse needs to return the style to Bleeding Era, well I drop a big line to Septic Asphyxiation Vocalist Justin Byxbe to fill Barnes shoes without any problem. You wouldn't listen to any tight blasts here, they just hit and beat with sick twisted mosh inducing groove erupting the crowd floor into violent battle field. Both Fresh Desert and their previous (actually newer) demo Vaginal Gingivitis are very killer, filled with outstanding breaks, great groove riffings and once again horns up to the vocalist. Septic Asphyxiation is currently unsigned hope that their is a label realize that these dudes is deserving to have good recording, distribution,  and death/grind fest world wide!                                                                  9/10

Vaginal Gingivitis Review from Tortured Soul webzine- This album is straight up brutal death metal infused with a moshable groove. It's a mixture of old Cannibal Corpse and Mortician. Killer gore/death metal from these gore fiends! If your a fan of no bullshit and no strings attatched death metal, than this is definently a band to listen to. These guys are on the rise, so beware!

"Vaginal Ginigivitis" review from Grindead webzine

Not long ago I reviewed this bands first demo called "Fresh Desert" and before I knew I yet again get the chance to review more material with these guys from Detroit, this time the demo is called "Fresh Desert" and contains the three tracks from their first demo, so I will only concentrate on the four new tracks that starts of this demo. I was a bit suprised by the production that here is much rawer, but heavier, than their previous release and I must say I was a little bit turned off by that, not that I have anything against rough productions, but just that thats the only thing S.A. misses, they got the music, now they need the production hehe. Anyways, the music is more well-written this times and its still all about the mosh, so no real change there. The vocals on the other hand are a bit deeper, well, it may be because of the soundproduction or something, but they sound better and the screams are just as "throatslitting" as usual hehe.

With the demo I also got a flyer telling me that S.A. is going to have a gig with such big bands as Cannibal Corpse and Hypocrisy and that really speaks for itself in which direction S.A. are going, these mofos are aiming high as no other death metal band I've heard recently and thats a good thing. Check out their page for more info about that, I would've been there if I lived in USA, no shit.

After listening to this demo I can pretty certain say that S.A. has developed their own kind of style, not that I havent heard this stuff before, but they have an own "sound", the way they combine and follow up their slams, breakdowns and grooves and trust me, it isnt in the vein of Devourment, which in my oppinion is good (you probably will kill me after reading this, but thats my oppinion, and yes, I think Devourment is a very hyped band.)

This album gets 4 out of 5. This stuff is just as good as their previous stuff, but the production could have been a little clearer, like if they could have combined the heavy touch, the songstructures and the production on their first demo it would have been perfect. My advice, keep your eyes open for these guys, because before you know it they will be well-known in the underground scene as one of the grooviest acts around.

What's in a Name? With Vaginal Gingivitis, Septic Asphyxiation jams a ruptered colostomy bag of terror. Pure filth, horrible production....i love it. We're talking Black Mass of Absu territory here. Septic blasts a thick wall of sludge, plenty of guttutal vocals and demonic shrieks, pummeling mosh riffs, mid-paced drumming and occasional blasts. This is an excellent contribution to the furtherance of art filled with morally venerable anthems such as "Vodka Blood Bath" and "fatal Sodomy." Review of "Fresh Desert" demo And I thought I had a pretty good look on what was going on in the underground, Septic Asphyxiation from Detroit proves me wrong hehe. These four guys contacted me and sent me their demo and now I sit here listening to it and I will hook you up with what these guys are all about. Song titles like "Fatal Sodomy", "Putrid Pudendum" and "My first rape victim" makes me think about the good old days when death metal was all about obscure and disgusting lyrics, not that I despise what bands are singing nowadays, just that its nice that there are still bands that are into this genre of lyrics. Septic Asphyxiation plays really groovy death metal with some really cool breakdowns, not that many fast parts at all, nearly none actually, but I like this kind of stuff as well and the vocals reminds me very much of Chris Barnes and Justin has even managed to do Chris Barnes great highs as well, really good since I am an old fan of Chris Barnes vocals.

It could have been better recorded, because its really rough,I guess its basement recording, but I think its still managing to give the music a raw and heavy sound and the instruments are pretty well-balanced. Musically they are all good musician that I know will get even better with time and alot of practice. For being a first experession they have already caught my attention and I will definantly keep my eyes open for their next release, hope it contains a little more tracks!

This album gets 4 out of 5. I didnt have much more to add, sinceI liked this as much as I did and I felt that I already got everything covered. I wish the best of luck to the band and I want to thank S.A for letting me be there since the start!     4/5                                          Ulf
