ARAMU MURU
Doorway to the Gods
This mysterious portal (figure 1) is located at Hayu Marca, about 35 kilometres south of Puno. The local indigenous Aymara people have, of course, known about it for a long time. Their name for it translates as "Gate of the Gods or Spirits." The structure was carved out of the natural granite rock formation in ancient times; no one can adequately say just when this happened. It's about 7 metres by 7 metres, in height and width. The shape of it resembles the Gateway of the Sun at Tiahuanaco. In the centre of the base is a small niche, large enough for a person to sit cross-legged in comfortably, as in figure 2, 3 and 4. In the middle of this niche is a smaller indentation (see figure 4). The two cross sectioned tubes on either side are reputed to be awesome spiritual energy devices. One is said to be a male, and one a female tube.

There are several local legends of people who had gone to the Doorway, especially at night, never to return. This has caused great fear among the locals, and as a result most of the locals don't venture near the area. And subsequently, outsiders have not traditionally been invited there.

In the words of local guide Jorge Luis Delgado Mamani: "When I saw the structure for the first time, I almost passed out. I have dreamed of such a construction repeatedly over the years, but in the dream the path to the door was paved with pink marble, and with pink marble statues lining either side of the path. In the dream, I also saw that the smaller door was open and there was a brilliant blue light coming from what looked like a shimmering tunnel. I have commented to my family many times about these dreams, and so when I finally gazed upon the doorway, it was like a revelation from God.

This report of pink smooth rock is reminiscent of the pink porphyry blocks at Ollantaytambo, which seem to be the remnants of a back wall of some kind of temple structure.

After calling in archaeologists and Inca historians to come and study the mysterious structure, Jorge Luis realized that he might have indeed found the ancient doorway through which Aramu Muru, Lemurian master and legendary founder of the Monastery of the Seven Rays, was said to have disappeared. According to the legends the Spanish conquistadors heard from the indigenous people upon their arrival, Aramu Muru (who later became known in Inca history as Manco Capac, founder of the Inca empire) left Lemuria before it sunk under the waters of the Pacific Ocean and came to the Andes, bringing the Golden Sun Disc.

This disc was more than a ritual object. It is said to have great healing powers also. Some believe that when it was struck in a certain manner, and by such an enlightened person as Aramu Muru, for example, that it could actually alter the veil between dimensions, and could literally shift from one to the other.  Needless to say, it would have been a highly coveted item by people of all persuasions, especially those wanting to gain control of the political and religious

power in the Andes. The Spanish are said to have pursued the Incas to gain control of it. One legend has it that Aramu Muru (though by estimation it would have been one of his descendents at that time - unless he lived for several hundred years) fled from the Spanish and hid in the mountains near Hayu Marca. The shaman priests at the Doorway welcomed him when he eventually reached there. They observed him performing a ritual and placing the disc in the indentation in the Doorway. It subsequently opened the portal, revealing a blue light from within the tunnel. Then Aramu Muru is said to have stepped through "into eternity."

Many people report having very powerful spiritual experiences whilst kneeling at the niche, facing the Doorway, with their head pressed to the smaller niche within. Some with no experience with the legends report seeing a bright blue light filling their vision, even though their eyes are closed. Such a profusion of these claims, by those with no experience with the myths throw credence on the claim that it may, however doubtful, carry much spiritual power.

It seems that this structure is but the front door to a world we can only dream of. It is a window into a world unknown to all but a privileged few. To look upon this structure is to gaze upon the doorway to a lost world.

All we need is the key.
