Well, it's almost time for our next fun little cultural activity. Tomorrow we're all being sent off to several elementary schools to interact with the students. I have this grave sense of foreboding. If this were Star Wars, I'd say that I felt a great disturbance in the force.
Anyway, unlike some of the other groups, it looks like mine is supposed to be learning from the kids, instead of the other way around. So it seems that I'll be getting some lessons in calligraphy, and children's games. Hopefully I won't make a hash of speaking like I did at the bank today.
I decided to change the rest of my traveler's checks to yen before my home stay started, just so that I wouldn't find myself between a rock and a hard place at some later date. My problem was I ended up getting the same teller that I had when I made a complete hash of things the last time I changed money, so I got so nervous about screwing up again, that when I talked I think I ended up forgetting to say just about one out of every two syllables. So then I took my Yen and slunk out of the bank without further word. Who needs grace under pressure? Well, me apparently… Who's not going to get any? Why, that would be me again. Oi.
In less embarrassing news, I also thoroughly reconnoitered the train station today, and picked up a schedule, so I should be all set when it comes to taking to train to my home stay and back.
To relax tonight a bunch of us watched 'Tomorrow Never Dies.' It was dubbed in Japanese. Despite the fact that I barely understood any of the dialogue, I wasn't really hampered in my understanding of the plot. I guess KA-BOOM is a universal language.
