DOGS BELIEVE THEY ARE HUMAN.
CATS BELIEVE THEY ARE GOD.

One day, I dropped by the Citizens for Animal Protection pet adoption shelter next to my boyfriend's office. I picked out 3 or 4 of my favorites, then dragged him over to check them out. I knew he'd fall in love with them just like I had. Well, we did end up adopting 3 cats that day, but not a single one of them was from the original batch I had picked out.

"LITTLE ONE"

Little One
There she was, just sitting all alone in that cage, waiting for someone to come along and pick her from among the dozens of other cats in the shelter. Her shelter name was "Miss Dufua" (don't ask me - I have no idea where they got that) and she didn't really stand out. Just another cat.

Then Rex, my boyfriend, opened her cage and picked her up. She immediately settled herself in his lap and began purring so loudly I could hear her from across the room! And her coat was so silky and lush! Well, needless to say, we fell in love with her right away.

The name "Miss Dufua" had to go, but we knew we couldn't name her - she would have to name herself. She has the cutest little squeak for a meow and I voted to call her "Squeaker" or "Squeaks." But, since she was the smallest of the 4 cats in the house, she just sort of naturally became "Little One."
Little One
She's the dominant female - absolutely no doubt about that! She made it well-known from the very beginning that she was in charge. Louie is the only male cat in the group and the two of them do not get along at all. She even keeps her distance from other females.

The only one who hasn't been declawed, she tends to be an outdoor cat most of the time. Every once in a while she graces us with her presence. When she decides to sleep inside, she likes to cuddle up close to the nearest human and take up half of the bed.
